HobbyWing Challenge Malaysia 2023 – Announcement

Having just recently hosted the Malaysia FEMCA Series, SACC RC Park has announced the HobbyWing Challenge Malaysia 2023.  Situated in Shah Alam city in the state capital of Selangor, the roof top track will play host to the RC Planet Malayia organised electric touring car event on August 13th.  Also the host venue for the Xray’s XRS Malaysia event that as attended by Alexander Hagberg,  racing at the HobbyWing Challenge Malaysia will see drivers compete for honours in 13.5T Stock Blinky, 13.5T Stock with HobbyWing Handout Motor & ESC, 17.5T GT  with HobbyWing Handout Motor & ESC and 17.5T FWD Blinky.  The race schedule will see three rounds of rocket round qualifying with triple A-Main to decide the overall winners

Destiny RX-10F 3.0 flex alu chassis and wave front brace

Japanese 1:10 electric touring car manufacturer Destiny has released a new flex chassis and wave front brace for their RX-10F 3.0 FWD Touring car which was released in March.  The aluminium flex version chassis is suitable for carpet tracks and high traction asphalt tracks.  The graphite wave shape front brace, made from 2.0mm high grade graphite with 1mm thickness of wave shape provides more flex than kit brace for more smooth steering response.

Double win for Widmaier at Austrian Nationals Rd3

Sworkz’ Micha Widmaier completed the double at the latest round of the Austria 1:10 Offroad Nationals over the weekend.  Racing on the GMAC track in Litschau for the third round, Widmaier had the perfect weekend that started off with him securing the TQ for both 2WD and 4WD Buggy.  Lining up on pole for the 4WD A-Mains ahead of Xray’s Hupo Honigl, he would wrap up the overall win after A2 with Honigl (2nd) and Team Associated driver Peter Pinisch joining him on the podium.  In 2WD, the Yokomo of Robin Riedmann was Widmaier closest rival qualifying P2 with Honigl P3 but the pole sitter won the first two comfortably for the win.  Winning A3, Honigl would claimed his second runner-up spot of the weekend with Riedmann completing the podium.

Champlin and Horne win JConcepts INS13 Summer stop

Broc Champlin and Aydin Horne took the Buggy wins at the latest stop of the JConcepts Indoor National Series, the Summer INS13 race taking place at the Hobbyplex Raceway track in Omaha over the weekend.  In 2WD it was Team Associated of Reedy’s Dustin Evans that secure the TQ from Champlin and Horne but over the triple Champlin got the better of Evans to take his LRP powered Schumacher to the overall victory with wins in A1 and 2.  Winning A3 Evans would takes second with Horne completing the podium ahead of Tom Rinderknecht and Ryan Cavalieri.  In 4WD it was Champlin who won the qualifying battle from Horne with Evans P3 but it was it Team Associated’s Horne who came out top in the opening two A-Main for the win from Champlin and Evans with Xray’s Chase Lemieux fourth.

Hamon wins QLD 1:8 Onroad title

Jeff Hamon added another State Championships title for 2023, this time the Serpent driver claiming 1:8 Onroad Queensland title at England Park Raceway.   Having won the NSW State Titles in electric Touring Car back in May, Hamon would pull off the perfect weekend in his specialist class of 1:8 nitro topping four of the 6 rounds of qualifying to secure the overall TQ.  Behind Tim Moylan secured P2 with two TQ runs with P3 on the grid going to Hamish Scott.  Over the half hour final the World Championship Finalist would control the race to eventually win by a lap from the Infinity of  Russell Grenenger with the Serpent of Rick Bartolozzi completing the podium.  An event support by Speedy RC, in the 1:10 title race it was the Infinity of Brayden Stanley who took victory.

Bermudez crowned Euro B Champion

It was a dream weekend for up & coming 1:8 Offroad talent Rémy Bermudez as the French teenager claimed his first European Championship title on home soil.  The Xray driver secured the overall TQ at the EFRA Euro B Championships at Longvic in Djion and duly went on to win his Semi final to secure pole position for the final from Mathis Peyre who qualified P2 and won the second of the Semi finals.  Over the 45-minute final, Bermudez would set to the fastest lap of the race with his FX Engine powered XB8 en route to taking the win by a lap from the similarly Hotrace Tyres shod Sworkz of Spain’s Adrian Pariente Torrijos who line-up 3rd on the grid.  8-seconds back Peyre’s Xray would complete the podium at the 18th edition of the championships which counts David Ronnefalk, Juan Carlos Canas and Lee Martin as just some of its former champions.

Cotén Escudería ‘Dista-Test’ onroad clutch tool

Spain’s Cotén Escudería has released the ‘Dista-Test’ onroad clutch tool, a product it has developed with its star team driver and World Championship podium finisher Edu Escandón.  The Dista-Test is a special tool to build your clutches with absolute accuracy, ease of use and repetition with a single device.  It is designed to be the only tool for your clutches, because with it you will be able to measure with absolute precision the Spring Pre-load, Clutch shoe travel and End Gap.  The Dista-Test is presented in a handy and dedicated box in which you’ll find a clamp with two different sides, and a special wrench to check and set the spring pre-load.  The box itself has five different pins to store the different shims needed to adjust the clutch shoe travel and end gap, as well as three pins for spare springs.

Volker adds another German National title

A nation that has been a major force in the world of international 1:10 electric touring car racing, Germany hosted its National Championships over the weekend with Ronald Volker adding another DMC title to his CV.  Hosted by the MC Munster at the club’s Hollmoorring track in the western part of the country, qualifying would see Volker take his Mugen to the overall TQ.  A dominant performance, the former World Champion’s  LRP powered MTC2R was fastest in 4 of the 5 qualifiers.  The only other driver to top a round, Q4, Yokomo’s Christopher Krapp would would secure P2 on the grid followed by team-mate Yannic Prümper.  Winner of the title at his home track of Andernach, last year Awesomatix’s Marc Rheinard would start P4 with the Xray of Jan Ratheisky completing the top half of the grid.  In the triple finals, A1 would see Volker crash out early and DNF with Krapp taking the win from Rheinard.  A2 would see a perfect run from the pole sitter to give him the win just ahead of Krapp meaning it was a head to head battle in A3.  Battling for the lead, on the penultimate lap Krapp would roll allowing Volker to win from Rheinard and lift the DMC title.  Finishing A3 in 5th, Krapp would finish runner-up with Rheinard completing the podium.  In the Stock class Top Qualifier Simon Lauter took the title while in Formula it was Ratheisky who took the win.
