Kyosho TF-5 Stallion – Shin edition

Kyosho TF-5 Stallion - Shin edition

It looks like Kyosho will be busy at next weeks Shizuoka Hobby show with the scheduled introduction of the new Shin edition TF-5 Stallion electric touring car. Made with large input from all Kyosho team drivers, and named after factory racer Shinosuke Adachi, the new car is much stiffer and features an all new carbon chassis plate to eliminate flex. Also new on the Shin edition is the use of shorter lower rear wishbones for eliminating roll, as well as a new system for adjusting the roll centers in the front and rear of the car. The car also sports a different servo saver with new Ackermann as well as a more rigid top plate and better weight distribution.

Kawada prototype wheel for M300

Kawada prototype wheel for M300

Kawada, the company that brought you the M300 RSX 1/12th scale chassis, have announced that they will be showing these new larger diameter wheels for the first time at next weeks Shizuoka Hobby show. Made to fit their 1/12th scale, the new profile (on the front wheel at least) looks similar to that from the Kyosho Evolva 1/8th scale wheel design, with the rear wheel also having the same profile. Kawada are also hinting at a new electric touring car to be shown for the first time at the same show, showing only a heavily pixelated CAD image, ahead of its official unveiling next week.

Kyosho CRF motors – Part II

Kyosho CRF motors

I think its safe to say now that the deal between CRF and Kyosho, that we exclusively revealed a week ago, is on. We have already shown you the first pictures of the CRF .12 engine that will be sold by Kyosho, and now in the build up to next weeks Shizuoka Hobby show in Japan, Kyosho have released official promotional photos of their V-One-RRR Evo which show the new engine mounted in the car (above). Also shown on the same page on the company’s website are some small pictures showing the crankshaft and liner of the new engine, which looks identical to the current Team Orion CRF motor.

View all the pictures here.

UPDATE: The new engine will be called the Kyosho X312T

Xray NT1 & Mugen MTX4 of Beat & Dankel

Xray NT1 of Walti Beat

Yesterday our partners, RC Infos, showed us some close up pictures that they had taken at the EC B’s in Roeselare, of the winning Serpent 720 of Alessio Mazzeo. Today as a follow up they have added 2 more picture sets from the same event, first off showing the Mugen MTX4 of event runner up Erik Dankel, which you can see is also pretty much standard, with only some small optional parts added such as the alu receiver box and alu servo horn. Walti Beat, the 4th placed qualifer and eventual 5th placed finisher, drove the new Xray NT1 (above) and his car was also pretty much standard, albeit nice and neat.

View the Xray NT1 here and the Mugen MTX4 here.

Serpent F180 released

Serpent have announced that their long awaited Formula car, the F180, has finally been released. This 2wd 1/8th scale car comes in a number of versions, 2 of which are kits and one which is a ready to race, pre assembled version. All versions come in a great big carry case, that features a handle and wheels, and the car itself, as i’m sure many of you are aware, is quite a cool object with inboard suspension, laydown engine and great scale looks. It will be great to see a full grid of these.

John Ermen wins Rd2 Dutch Nationals

John Ermen wins Rd2 Dutch Nationals

Last weekend saw the 2nd round of the Dutch 1/8th scale National Championship return to the venue of the first round of the series, Rucphen in the south west of Holland. In a repeat performance from the first round it was John Ermen, driving for Serpent, that took the top spot in qualifying as the only driver to hit 23 laps followed by Rick V for Mugen in 2nd. In the race itself it was a pretty easy run for John until a coming together with slowing team mate Rob Kuijper forced John into the pits to fix his body shell. This allowed Rick V to close the gap and despite some traffic problems for the leader he couldn’t get passed and thats how it stayed with John taking the win by less than a second from Rick V in 2nd and 3rd place going to Rik Veenma.
