Jilles Groskamp wins Rd1 of Dutch 200mm Nationals

Rd1 of Dutch 200mm Nationals

Today saw the first round of the Dutch 1/0th 200mm Nationals held at the Gronignen track in the north of Holland. In qualifying it was Xray driver Jilles Groskamp that took the TQ spot followed by Serpent racer Jordy Blok in 2nd with Kyosho racer Daan Jacobs claiming the 3rd qualifying spot. In the race itself, Jordy Blok was the first retirement after 10 minutes which left Jilles in a clear lead but he immediately suffered from a 2nd gear failure which meant he only had 1st gear for the rest of the final. This allowed Daan Jacobs to start closing and eventually take the lead, only to have to pit suffering from problems to his right rear rim on a track that was causing huge tire wear. Jilles, once back in the lead, took the win followed home closely by Daan in 2nd with another Xray NT1 driven by Maarten van Lierop in 3rd.

Chris Grainger joins GM Racing

Chris Grainger joins GM Racing

A little piece, or perhaps a big piece, of news that we overlooked last week was the announcement that UK driver Chris Grainger has joined GM Racing. For brushless racing, the multiple British Champion will now power his Yokomo chassis with GM brushless controllers and motors, while for non brushless running he will continue with Team Checkpoint motors. Only last weekend Chris won the modified class at the opening round of the Schumacher BTCC championships, held at the Stafford track in the UK, which attracted a full entry of 120 racers.

UPDATED to reflect correct sponsor arrangement.

Serpent are reporting on last weekends first round of the Hyundai sponsored Serpent Korea Cup that took place at the Suwon circuit. In 1:10 Yuya Sahashi broke the track record to TQ for the event with his Serpent 720 but in the final both brothers suffered engine problems which allowed young Korean Serpent racer Nam SangJun to take the win fom Kyosho driver Choi Seungwon in 2nd and Ahn Nyunho in 3rd. In 1:8 SangJun again starred by securing the TQ position with his 960 and in the race the youngster did a superb job to finish second behind Serpent team driver Yuya Sahashi to give Serpent a great 1-2 result with Oh Yongtaek in 3rd for Kyosho.

M Mod parts for MBX5 and MTX4

M Mod Wishbone mount

We have shown you lots of parts from M Mod before, as well as All Mod, and today we have more parts to show you, this time only for Mugen. The first up, which you can see above is a rear lower wishbone pivot point for the MTX4 that has been made out of the trademark grey anodised aluminium and adds to the strength required around this area in the event of an impact. Also available from M Mod, for the MBX5 and the MBX5-T, is a part that combines the upper servo saver mount and the upper rear side front suspension pivot point in one part which adds greatly to the strength and stiffness of this entire area.

Kyosho Gas powered 1/12th pan car

Kyosho Gas powered 1/12th pan car

The picture above was spotted in this months issue of the Japanese magazine, RC Magazine. It shows a new, concept stage, project by Kyosho to make a 1/12th gas powered 4wd pan car, sporting what looks like the same Sirio .09 engine that comes with the Mini Inferno range of buggies. As my Japanese is pretty bad, all i can comment on is the picture and i have to say that it looks like a rather awkward and cramped layout with 2 belt configuration, side mounted disk brake and 2 speed gearbox. The rear top mounted exhaust just looks like an afterthought and as much as the center of the car looks too busy, the front has nothing going on. What do you guys think?

Teddy Syach wins Pre-FEMCA race

Teddy Syach wins Pre-FEMCA race

Serpent are reporting on their site about last weekends Pre FEMCA championship race that was held at Jakartas Twin Circuit facility. The event was seen as the warm up event for the FEMCA Championships which take place on this track later in the year, and at this event it was Serpent driver Teddy Syatch that was the man to beat TQ’ing both classes along with recording the fastest lap of the weekend for both classes too. Unfortunately organisers were forced to cancel the A Mains due to heavy rain with the result being declared on the outcome of the qualifying heats which meant Teddy won both classes with 2nd place in 1/10th going to Peter Widjaja and Ryan Chandra in 3rd. In the 1/8th scale class, behind Teddy, it was Fayakhun TKI in 2nd and Arya Rido in 3rd.
