The second edition British Open GP took place at the Halifax circuit in West Yorkshire. The event would cater for 1/10th 200mm, 1/10th Sports GT, 1/8th GT, 1/8th IC and 1/8th electric with over 80 entries making it an exciting weekend. The race would take a similar structure to that of the popular ENS series with round by round qualifying and a single sided bump up finals format. Along with the race, a social event was hosted on the Saturday evening along with a raffle with prizes donated by the event sponsors. With the area known among racers as having its own climate, rain would make for challenging conditions throughout qualifying.

HB Racing have introduced their new RGT8 1/8th nitro GT kit. Based off of the World Championship winning D815 buggy, both kits share many similarities and parts such as the heavy-duty drivetrain components with the RGT8 featuring a 2-speed transmission, monocoque suspension arms, suspension mounts with inserts and 16mm big bore shock absorbers. Other features include lightweight diff gears, rubber CVD boots, steel turnbuckles, machined engine mount and a 3mm 7075 chassis. The kit is rounded out by machined aluminium caster blocks, steering blocks and rear uprights. The steering system features an alloy servo saver arm, aluminium drag link, steel turnbuckles and woven carbon fibber steering arms on the steering blocks. Alternate arm mounts, steering blocks, caster blocks, steering arms, rear hub carrier arms and sway bars are all available to tune the RGT8 to any track or driving style. The vehicle comes in kit form, so racers can choose their own wheels, tyres, body, engine and electronics.

Coming from DE Racing are the Speedway SC wheel for 1/10th scale oval racing using SC-based Modified or Late Model kits. They feature the Sure-Lock system, which is comprised of radial ribs that lock the wheel and foam insert together, eliminating many inconsistencies that come from an insert that is free to move around, such as pressing the wheel out from the center of the tyre. The wheel fit most 2.2″/3.0″ short course tyres and it is available for the Team Associated SC10/SC5M and the front and rear of the Traxxas Slash.

Coming soon from Kyosho is the Mini-Z MR03 VE Pro GP limited edition chassis kit. It is equipped with an ultra-fast Team Orion 12,000kv brushless motor that is being cooled down efficiently with the one-piece heat sink construction. Also, the chassis is equipped with the R246-1351 MML aluminum motor mount and R246-1352 MML roll damper with special hard anodizing treatment for performance and durability. The front upper and lower arms have been updated with new glass fibre reinforced material that realizes more accurate and rigid front suspension working. The chassis comes equipped with an MHS/ASF compatible Rx ESC unit, ball bearings, gold-plated battery terminals and a black anodized ball diff as standard. The chassis kit is compatible with the ultra-fast Syncro EX-6 transmitter as well as the standard KT-18 and EX-5UR.

The track of Evry near Paris played host to the French Cup that was held in several electric classes. Jeremy Limoges swept the Formula class qualifying to take the overall TQ from David Moysan, Georges Saux and Gigi Mantrand (all Xray). Jeremy’s motor sensor problems at the start of A1 then created a massive crash and he would end the messy leg in second behind Georges but taking win in A2 and A3 meant the overall victory for Jeremy and with it another French Cup title. Georges Saux and Gigi Mantrand completed the top 3 result.
Following the introduction of the upgraded Inferno VE Kyosho America have also announced the soon release of the DBX VE 2.0 1/10th scale electric buggy. It offers the convenience of a 1/10th scale vehicle mixed with 1/8th scale performance levels, and the upgraded kit now includes the 2.4GHz Syncro KT-231P transmitter and KS4031-06W high-torque and high-speed steering servo. In addition to the new controls, the new DBX VE 2.0 is equipped with a colourful printed body with white motif and high-vis neon yellow wheels that light up the track. The chassis features aluminium parts anodized in signature gun metallic and is equipped with the Team Orion Vortex R10 Evo motor and Vortex R10 Sports ESC of the former model. The ready-to-run kit is rounded out by 1/8th scale racing buggy tyres that combine with a long wheelbase and wide tread to deliver stability under any conditions.

Kyosho have announced the soon release of their upgraded Inferno VE ReadySet 1/8th E-buggy kit. The ready-to-run vehicle builds on the proven MP9 and features a sturdy alloy chassis, a robust 4WD drivetrain and large volume shock absorbers. Included in the factory-assembled kit are genuine Team Orion electronics such as a Neon8 brushless motor and a programmable Vortex R8 speed controller. Also included is a high-torque metal gear steering servo and the kit comes with the new Syncro KT-231P 2.4GHz radio system for improved vehicle control. The set is rounded out by square block tyres on neon red wheels and a pre-painted bodyshell.
