Balestri Top Qualifier at 1:10 European Championship

Infinity’s Dario Balestri is the Top Qualifier at the 1:10 Nitro Onroad European Championships in Sciliy, Italy. The 17th running of the EFRA championships, Thursday presented drivers with some weather issues that stopped the action. Friday they managed to get all 5 rounds of qualifying completed and it was Balestri who reigned at the Naxos World track. Posting four TQ runs, the 2006 & 2007 European Champion secured pole for the final from Toni Gruber, the Capricorn driver fastest in opening round from Carmine Raiola who would end up third ahead of Infinity team-mates Jilles Groskamp and Francesco Tironi. With these four drivers going into Super Pole to try secure a direct starting place in the Main final with Balestri, it was Gruber who posted the fastest lap. The rest of the grid will be decided by the Semi Finals. With back to back reigning 1:10 Champion Dominic Greiner not making the trip to Sciliy, a new champion will decided in tomorrow’s final.

Hudy Tyre Mounting Bands

Famed Slovakian tool manufacturer Hudy has released new tyre mounting bands. They allow for a perfect bond between the tyre and wheel and help to make the gluing tires easier. The bands apply pressure to the tire and keep the tire bead pressed firmly into the glue channel in the wheel which eliminates air gaps between the tire and wheel and helps to create a strong glue bond. The wide band width helps to apply even pressure along the entire bead width. Available in small and large size. The small size fits 1:10 2WD & 4WD offroad tyres while the large size fits 1:10 Short Course, 1:10 Truck, 1:10 Truggy, 1:8 Offroad and 1:8 Truggy tyres. Available in black and purple colour, they come in a set of four bands.

Xray XB8 C-Hub Front Suspension Conversion Set

Xray has released a C-Hub Front Suspension Conversion Set for its XB8 1:8 Buggy. C-hub suspension is perfectly suited for smooth and short technical tracks & smooth surface conditions and on these track conditions the C-hub suspension generates increased frontward traction as well increased overall traction with enhanced steering. The C-hub suspension includes lower suspension arm, steering block with Ackermann plate, C-hub, camber link & Ackermann steering plate. Fits XB8’19 onwards and XB8E’19 onwards.

Serpent 990 Shockmount Flex Sets

Serpent has released new optional front and rear Shockmount Flex sets for their 990 1:8 Onroad Chassis which allow for more flex. The traditional shock bracket is replaced by 2 separate mounts. Due to the use of the shims, the angle of the shocks can also be adjusted in smaller steps, allowing for an even better suited set-up. The two separate mounts can be connected to give more stiffness, especially on high traction tracks.

SMJ .12 Kabuto T12

SMJ has released their latest .12 Kabuto Engine, the T12. The engine has been completely redesigned from the previous model, and features a DLC coated crankshaft with two tungsten weights, which contributes to increased torque at low and mid speeds. The new T12 engine also features an underhead with an O-ring to prevent dust from entering, and a large cooling head finished in a bold blue and black colour to meet the toughest race conditions. The Kabuto T12 is also available pre-broken in by “YURUGIX”, a pioneer of pre-broken-in engines that has earned the trust of top drivers.

Wood makes it BRCA 3 from 3 at Halifax

Tim Wood made it three from three in the British 1:8 Onroad National Championship, the Shepherd driver taking the TQ and win at Halifax last weekend. Already a winner at Cotswold and Wombwell, Wood would set a blistering pace in qualifying setting a new track record as he put his Hasi Tuned powered Velox V8.2 on pole for the A-final. Behind Capricorn’s Andrew Hastings would line up second with the ARC of Niall Cochran 3rd. In the 30-minute final that order would remain unchanged as Wood took a convincing win from the front. With latest BRCA encounter attracting the biggest field thus far of the season with 47 drivers in attendance, there would be position change for fourth with Jason Frost finding a way passed 4th place qualifier Richard Hicklin. Round 4 of the 6 round championship will take racers to the Adur circuit on July 22-23.

Sworkz signs former FEMCA Champ Chanyasak

Sworkz has announced the signing of one of Thailand’s top racers Paphon Chanyasak to the team. Chanyasak is a former 1:8 Buggy FEMCA Champion and was also a finalist at the IFMAR GT World Championship in Miami in 2020, a title that was won by the Sworkz team in the hands of Joern Neumann. The Bangkok driver who has a wealth of experiences in both 1:8 Buggy and GT, Chanyasak return a break from racing and choosing Sworkz to restart his competitive racing said, ‘I am glad to be a part of the SWORKz team. The SWORKz products are trustworthy for me, and I’ll do my best.’
