Orlowski wins ETS Season opener

Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski has won the opening round of the ETS at Apeldoorn in the Netherlands.  Having claimed his first ever win in the series at last season’s finale in Daun back in January, the Polish driver registered his first outdoor win ahead of the Awesomatix of Lucas Urbain and Mugen of Erik Dankel as reigning champion Ronald Volker kicked off his title defence with a fourth place.  Getting qualifying underway with a TQ run, Orlowski would start the finals from P2 behind Top Qualifier Marc Rheinard, the Awesomatix driver topping two of the four rounds, while Q2 pace setter Urbain secured 3rd on the grid.  In the opening A-Main, Rheinard would take the win ahead of Urbain and Dankel with Orlowski retiring from the race.  In A2, Rheinard would suffer a spin allowing Orlowski to go to the front and claim a win that put everything on the line in A3.  Leading away the field, Rheinard would suffer an early issue that would allow Orlowski to the front where he would stay to secure the overall win.  Holding second, few laps later, Rheinard’s car came would come to stop at the end of the straight ending his race and leaving the German with only a P7 for his weekends’s efforts.  In Pro Stock Olivier Bultynck enjoyed the best start possible to the season as he took the TQ and win with Lukas Ellerbrock and Max Machler making it an all Awesomatix podium.

Avid D8 Worlds Spec Carbon & G10 Arm Inserts

New from Avid Racing are these Carbon & G10 Arm Inserts for the HB Racing’s D8 Worlds Spec 1:8 Buggy.  The 1.5mm Carbon Arm Inserts for the front offer your buggy another great tuning feature by reducing the flex and twist in the arm.  Because the arm is now symmetrical (left and right arm are the same), it has two locations for an arm insert (top & bottom) and the arms do not come with plastic covers anymore.  Avid Racing recommend running the carbon insert on the top of the arm and their G10 insert on the bottom to keep the dirt out of the arm while not making the arm too stiff.

RC Maker BD12 SlimFlex chassis & topdecks

RC Maker has released a number of carbon parts for Yokomo’s recently released BD12 electric touring car. The range includes SlimFlex 2.2mm Regular & HARD Carbon Chassis and SlimFlex 2.0mm & 1.6mm Topdeck Sets.   The third in their SlimFlex range of Enhanced Carbon Chassis’, the Yokomo BD12 chassis and ‘Hard’ chassis’ feature a narrower chassis all round to provide less scrubbing in corners, leading to increased corner speed. This increases flex, so to counteract this, we have recessed the diff and spool cutouts instead of cutting them all the way through. Not only does this bring the chassis back up to our desired amount of flex, it also improves aerodynamic performance by not preventing air from under the chassis being forced up into the car, detrimental to downforce. Overall, the chassis is slightly stiffer than the kit chassis, and provides improved response. The hard version chassis features a significantly stiffer weave of carbon, which reduces the flex greatly. The flex of this carbon chassis fills a large void between a standard carbon chassis and an aluminium chassis, making it the optimum choice for med-high traction asphalt, and low-med traction carpet. Often track conditions can cause the need for an “in between” option, where an aluminium chassis is too stiff and makes the car too easy to drive and slower, and a carbon chassis is too aggressive or difficult to drive to be consistent. The stiff carbon chassis is the perfect middle ground.
