David Ronnefalk TQs & wins Buggy Euros warm-up

The RC Redovan track in Alicante in the south-east of Spain played host to the EFRA 1/8th Nitro Buggy European Championship warm-up race this past weekend. As annual the warm-up attracted both the hosting country’s fastest drivers as well as a good amount of guests to get some laps under their belts in preparation for the main event later in the year. HB’s David Ronnefalk would take the overall TQ after the four qualifying rounds from Kyosho’s Elliott Boots while the Mugen duo of Oscar Baldo and Joan Carlos Canas rounded out the top 4. In the semifinals disaster stoke for Elliott who suffered mechanical issues while leading his semi, denying him a place in the main final. David Ronnefalk though would cement his dominant performance by taking the pole position for the main from Oscar Baldo and Robert Batlle (Mugen). The 45 minute main final then again had David coming out fastest, some 25 seconds in front of Oscar Baldo while Robert brought home the final podium spot, one lap short of Oscar.

Coelho handed easy A1 win

Coelho handed easy A1 win

Bruno Coelho has taken an easy win in the opening A-Main at Round 4 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Italy.  The Top Qualifier was effectively handed the race early on when second place starter Viljami Kutvonen got out of shape, collecting Marc Rheinard and putting both drivers on the grass.  Allowing Alexander Hagberg through to second the Swede would stay there for the remainder of an otherwise relatively uneventful race with Ronald Volker completing the podium.  The key pass of the race would be pulled off by Capricorn’s Kyle Branson, the British driver getting a run on Serpent’s Viktor Wilck onto the straight to secure 4th.

Coelho TQs in Italy as Rheinard takes final qualifier

sat_TQbruno-770x462

Bruno Coelho is Top Qualifier for Round 4 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series, the Xray driver bagging pole position for the first asphalt race of the season in a reduced qualifying at the Road Race Riccione track in Italy.  With overnight rain having delayed the start of the second day’s action, qualifying would be cut to three rounds meaning only Q1 winner Viljami Kutvonen could deny championship leader Coelho his second TQ start of the season.  With both drivers having to do the qualifier on used tyres having ran both allocated sets yesterday when Coelho took Q2, it would be Marc Rheinard who would top the third round.  Gambling on saving his second set of tyres for today in the hope it would be dry, the Tamiya driver would take a sunny Q3 ahead of Alexander Hagberg, who was also on new tyres, with Coelho the best on used rubber in third.  With 2 from 3 to count Coelho’s 19 lap Q2 time would give him pole over Kutvonen with Rheinard set to line-up 3rd.  For reigning champion and last year’s race Top Qualifier Ronald Volker a P4 in Q3 would secure the Yokomo driver 5th on the grid.

RSD RX12 2017 aluminium chassis conversion kit

RSD RX12 2017 aluminium chassis conversion kit

Reflex Racing have introduced the all-new RX12 2017 aluminium chassis conversion kit for Xray’s X12 1/12th scale pan car. Made to maximise the performance of the ’14, ’15 or ’16 specific car to match the higher grip conditions of today’s carpet racing, the kit is designed around a transverse-specific 2.0mm 7075-T6 aluminium chassis and 2.0mm quasi-isotropic carbon fibre lower pod, which has been designed to lower the CG of the car to the max, by using thinner material and slightly heavier hard-anodised 7075-T6 Thyssen Krupp aluminium alloy for the main plate. The kit gives the option of a revised, rearward centre shock position, allowing for quicker steering response and reduced body roll, or the traditional Xray X12 shock placement. Additionally, the conversion also includes a revised motor position that shifts the motor 2mm to the right for better side to side pod balance and the wheelbase has been reduced to 200mm for better entry and mid corner steering. Lastly, in order to move the shock further back, a revised servo mount plate is included in the kit to take advantage of the revised geometry by moving back the front mounting position as well. The chassis comes hard-anodised in black with silver chamfered edges for the premium look people dig these days.
