Former 1/8th onroad World Champion Rody Roem is making a move back into the onroad market with his VS Racing brand and the release of this 2102R super long stroke .21 on-road engine. Based on the very powerful O.S. Speed R2101, this is a combination of the world famous OS Max precision and technology together with some additional ‘Rody’ touches and development. Equipped with a VS Spec combustion chamber, The VS Racing 2102R is a high end competition engine intended for experienced users.

Kobbevik double at Norwegian Indoor Offroad Challenge

The 2016 Norwegian Indoor Offroad Challenge was hosted by RCOne Raceway in Moss, Norway, and as it was also open to everybody there were also some Swedish drivers present at the race. The track is 40 minutes out off Oslo, and very nice facility, carpet, tight and smooth layout. So everybody was very exited upfront on who is going to take the titles. Saturday started off with 2wd buggy and 2wd Stadium Truck. Team Yokomo driver Daniel Kobbevik took a solid TQ in 2wd buggy, and Calle Svensson from Sweden took TQ in 2wd Truck with his AE T5M.

Pietsch & Redaelli TQ at Picco Challenge

At the end of the four rounds of qualifiers the overall TQ honours went to Mugen’s designer and factory driver Robert Pietsch, who ended up on a tie with Lamberto Collari but managed to snatch the first spot on the grid from the 9-time World Champion thanks to his Q3 time, two seconds faster than Collari’s Q4 TQ. Looking pleased with his newborn MRX-6 and his Picco engine, Robert was of course happy to be able to start out in front for the A-Main.

Gizmo GZ1 1/10th touring car

Danish company Gizmo is finally ready with their GZ1 touring car. The company’s first platform, problems in the production meant it was delayed by several months but the company is finally ready to take preorders by April 1st with expected product shipment from 1st May 2016. Featuring a revolutionary 2 spur gear design, it allows the motor to be mounted centrally in the centre line of the chassis for perfect weight balance. For the newly develop drivetrain, the kit relies on a standard 2-belt design with spool in the front and gear differential in the rear. The drivetrain also sits exactly in the centre line of the chassis for equal left-to-right flex characteristics, as is the floating servo mount and the centre mounted weight, which comes as standard in the kit. Front double-joints driveshaft comes standard as well.

Collari overnight TQ at 2016 Picco Challenge

Finding himself tied at the top of the standing with Alberto Picco after two of the four rounds of qualifying, Lamberto Collari is overnight Top Qualifier at the 2016 Onroad Europe Picco Challenge thanks to a better best time over his arch rival. Only gaining a fifth time in the first round due to his engine being too lean, the Infinity driver then managed to sort things out and TQ’d round 2 edging Shepherd’s Christian Cavicchioli by half a second. Despite feeling a slight understeer in the second half of the round, Lamberto looked pleased with how his package performed and is of course looking forward for the continuation of the race.

Making the Xray RX8’16 – Part 1

I have a lot of respect and passion for the 1/8 on-road class. My passion comes from my early days when I got involved in RC, as this was the class I started with and grew up with. My respect comes from the fact that this class is considered the “ultimate F1 class” and as such many manufacturers put a high priority and investment into the class that pushes performance and limits all the time. It is kind of strange that despite this class being considered to be pinnacle of all RC car classes, the number of race entries is still low. This is understandable considering the big investment for a 1/8 on-road season and the complexity of the cars, but the very high speeds make the races very exciting and also challenging!

Protoform Corvette C7.R 1/8th GT race body

Protoform brings Corvette Racing’s championship heritage to 1/8 GT Class racing with this officially-licensed Corvette C7.R race body. From the signature Corvette muscular stance and swept-back roofline, to the large front splitter and side vents, every detail of the 1:1 race car is captured to add scale realism to the world of 1/8 GT. The extensive decal sheet lets you deck out your C7.R with Corvette branded windshield headers, “Jake” skull hood logo, number plates, and USA flags. Included with the body is an add-on rear wing, secured with three oversized nylon screws and featuring 2 trim-lines and spill-plate sizes: a lower line for sanctioned racing, and an upper line for low-grip club racing. This body fits 1/8 GT cars with the longer (GT2) wheelbase of 360mm, such as the Kyosho Inferno GT2. GT1 class racers, don’t fret: a shorter wheelbase version (328mm) of the C7.R is coming soon.

2016 BIRC Race – Announcement

2016 BIRC Race – Announcement

The organisers of the Bangkok International RC Car Championship got in touch to tell us that this 2016 running of this event will take place on the weekend of the 19th of June in Bangkok, Thailand. Hosted by the well known ‘Huge RC’ track built by former World Champion Surikarn C., this covered facility was just newly resurfaced. Expected to attract top racers from Europe and around Asia, the event will be open to several 1/10th on-road classes including Touring Car Modified, 13.5T boosted, 13.5T blinky and 17.5T blinky, F1 21.5T blinky as well as 1/8th, 1/10th 200mm and 1/8th GT gas on road classes.
