Ryan Lutz trifecta at Southern Indoor Champs

The recent Southern Indoor Championships saw Ryan Lutz (Tekno) walking away with a triple win. In the 30 minute Nitro Buggy A-main Lutz and teammate Joe Bornhorst (Tekno) would battle over the top spot and they were within a few seconds the whole race. It came down to the last few laps for the deciding pass and the win from Ryan Lutz. Joe Bornhorst came in second, Evan Vail (Mugen) rounded out the top 3 result.

HPI Racing have introduced two new Maverick RC RTR cars in the form of the Strada DT desert truck and the Strada RX rallycross kit. The 1/10th scale ready-to-run vehicles feature brand new body and wheel designs, as well as the standard features already installed in all Maverick RC Strada kits, such as an enclosed full-time 4WD shaft drivetrain, front and rear gear differentials, waterproof electronics including receiver, servo and speed controller, 2.4GHz radio system and more.

Alexander Hagberg doubles at Snowbird Nationals

One of the biggest RC events in the World, the Snowbird Nationals, was once again held in Orlando, Florida, with the race attracting racers from all over North America as well as the rest of the World. The track was laid out using CRC 2 carpet that offered a very high grip right from the start which drivers had to accustom to. In the Touring Modified class Xray’s Alexander Hagberg made a clean sweep in the qualifiers to grab the overall TQ and he would later also win the A-main event with a big margin to take his first win of the weekend.

Coelho claims 2nd EOS win in Germany

Bruno Coelho will go into the final round of the Euro Offroad Series in Austria as championship leader after the Xray driver secured his second win of the season in Germany today.  Top Qualifier for the third round, the World Champion would after a fraught A2, take the overall win ahead of Marc Rheinard with a near perfect drive in the closing race of the championship’s successful first visit to the Muelheim-Kaerlich venue.  For defending 4WD Champion Lee Martin his challenge for a required A3 win lasted just 3-laps as a mistake dropped him down the field, the winner of the season opener at the Nurburgring having to settle for the final step on the podium.

Xray XB2 aluminium rear hubs

Xray have introduced rear aluminium uprights for the XB2 2WD off-road buggy. The compact design hubs are made using black anodised 7075-T6 aluminium and they offer nine different upper camber link mounting positions for super-fine roll centre adjustments. The zero degree toe hubs are best suited for high-traction conditions as they increase rear stability.

Robert Batlle wins Kuwait Camel Classic

The Radio Control Car Club of Kuwait played host to the 2016 Kuwait Camel Classic 1/8th nitro off-road race this past week. The event attracted both local talent as well as special guests from abroad and it was Spain’s Robert Batlle (Mugen) who would grab the pole position for the 45 minute main final that he would win from Japan’s Atsushi Hara (Kyosho) and Kenji Tsuruta (Mugen) in second and third respectively.

Scorpion RS-3420 3.5T brushless motor

Scorpion have introduced the RS-3420 electric brushless motor in 3.5T configuration. The super-fast modified motor is best used in 1/10th Touring Car and 1/12th scale applications and it is equipped with a 12.5mm rotor for maximum torque, braking power and performance. Optional 12.0mm high-speed and 12.3mm all-round rotors can be purchased to fine-tune the motor to different track conditions. As with all RS-3420 series motors the 3.5T variant features a screw-type rotor surfaces for improved cooling, a built-in cooling fan as well as a built-in temperature sensor.
