ETS-ready Yokomo YR-10 formula car kit

Following a first teaser image Yokomo now have revealed all details of their forthcoming YR-10 formula car kit. Developed especially for the ever growing 190mm rubber tyre class the car features a front suspension made of carbon fibre upper and lower arms combined with a standard kingpin and recoil spring setup as well as a split aluminium bulkhead that allows for a floating servo mount to produce smooth and consistent front chassis flex. The rear end features long side links and a large volume centre shock absorber to extract as much grip as possible from the rubber tyres. Large volume side dampers improve the side bite on throttle input and the kit will come race ready, complying with the ETS rules, including Ride XR tyres and Montech front and rear wings. Hot Race Miami 1/8th buggy tyres

Hot Race Miami 1/8th buggy tyres

The third in the line of Hot Race Tyres’ new 1/8th buggy tyres is the Miami. The medium-size pin tread offering builds on a special carcass with round shoulders, making for a tyre that is less prone to unsettle the car over ruts and worn-out sections of the track while an inner mesh makes for lower and more even tyre wear. The tyre is available in supersoft, soft, medium and hard compound from beginning of January.

Ryan Lutz wins Nitro Truggy at US Open Fuel Champs

Ryan Lutz wins Nitro Truggy at US Open Fuel Champs

The inaugural US Open Fuel Championships race was held at the Fear Farm Raceway this past weekend. A number of Pro drivers made the journey and it was raced like the “old days” where there was just one class per vehicle. Tekno RC’s Ryan Lutz would have a mixed Nitro Truggy qualifier but he would end up with the TQ spot and in the main final and right from the tone Lutz was in front of TLR’s Ryan Maifield as the top four made a breakaway from the pack. Maifield would challenge Lutz early on but he started to fall back as the Tekno driver found his groove and began to pull away. Soon Lutz had a 5 second lead and it continued to grow. His closest competitors mid race both had issues thus allowing him an even greater margin to 2nd. In the end of the 45 min A-main Lutz was able to win by about 1.5 laps over his Tekno teammate Joe Bornhorst. Serpent’s Mike Truhe would round out the top 3.

SoCal RC Scale Series Rd1 – Report

SoCalRCScSoCal RC Scale Series Rd1 - ReportaleSeriesRd1Formula

Round 1 of the SoCal RC Scale Series was held at TQ RC Racing in Chino. With Summer coming to an end, it was time to return to begin the second year of the popular Winter Series. Five race days comprise the series and a drivers’ best four event results count toward the end of series awards for both Sportsman and Expert drivers. The Formula cars were first to set qualifying times for their race heats for the day. The series’ unique system uses a three minute qualifying run to set the five best (non-consecutive) laps averaged together. Josh Tran would hold the initial TQ spot with his qualifying time of 11.320 in the first group but there were some heavy hitters eager to best Josh’s time. When the dust settled, Craig “Cuda” Hammon, after a lot of hard work to get his carpet competitiveness close to his outdoor pace, took the top spot; narrowly besting Aaron Lane with a five lap average of 10.656 to Aaron’s 10.667, just 0.011 second gap. Third qualifier would be Kevin “Panda” Cole with a 10.938 effort. The difference between 3rd to 9th qualifiers was only 0.2 seconds. The change this season from 21.5 to 25.5 motors has closed the overall gap and would make for some very exciting racing.
