The recent 1/10th EP Australian Nationals were hosted by Chargers RC race club and in the 2WD Buggy class Kyle McBride managed to TQ all four rounds of qualifying. Once finals came around, Kyle dominated A1 and A2 to take the 2WD National championship early. 4WD was up the next day and the drivers were only allowed one practice round in the morning and then they went straight into the same qualifying and finals setup. The track had really come up to a very high traction, even more so than in 2WD. Kyle again managed to take the overall TQ, having won three out of the four qualifiers. In the finals McBride would continue to dominate by taking the win in A1 and A2 to grab his second title of the weekend.

WCICS Rd2 – Report

WCICS Rd2 – Report

The Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series round 2 was held among the beautiful wine country of Penticton, British Columbia. Hosted by the PRCC Club, this race just keeps on growing. After doubling last year, they were again up an astounding 50 percent, due in large part to the amazing creativity of the organizers. This year, every racer received a WCICS 25th Anniversary pit towel, personalized with their name. In addition, as the race weekend fell on WCICS President Josh Carter’s birthday, this club surprised him with a beautiful cake, and an entire gymnasium of RC racers singing Happy Birthday. On the racing side of things in the Modified Touring class National Champion, Xray driver Blake Bell drove his T4 from pole to checkered without looking back. But he was never alone, with Orca’s Keith Yu close behind in 2nd, and Awesomatix’s Korgae Scales in third, the three crossing the line just a few seconds apart, with almost exactly the same fast lap times.

Tamiya Kakegawa Circuit gets a renewal

Tamiya Kakegawa Circuit gets a renewal

Tamiya’s iconic Kakegawa Circuit is celebrating its 20 anniversary next year and while the original circuit, that once was the largest permanent track in the world, is still in pretty good shape the track will get a major make-over to turn it from an outdoor track into an all-weather indoor facility. Two huge tents will keep the elements away from both the track and the pits and beside the waterproofing the track itself will also see a revision with a new layout and more. The completion of the construction work is planned for May 2016 and we really look forward seeing the result.
