Baier & Greiner win in Friedrichshafen

Baier & Greiner win in Friedrichshafen

Last weekend saw the running of the German Open Indoor Masters as part of the regional Friedrichshafen fair in Southern Germany. The five classes of 1/8th and 1/10th Nitro, 1/8th E Stock and Expert as well as E-Motorcycle attracted around 120 entries to race on the Winternats style asphalt track with wooden track barriers. These would prove to be pretty hard for the vehicles as a small mistake would destroy the car. In the 1/8th Nitro class polesetter Tobias Kerler (ARC/Ielasi Tuned) lead until the 23 minutes mark but a crash would promote Armin Baier (Capricorn/Picco) into the lead and he would take the day’s win from Manuela Raso (Serpent/Max) with Tom Krägefski (Xray/Orcan) rounding out the top 3 result. In the 30 minute final of the 1/10th 200mm class polesetter Domenic Greiner (Serpent/Novarossi) took the win only 1.1 seconds in front of Melvin Diekmann (Shepherd/Orcan). Thilo Tödtmann (Capricorn/Tesla) completed the podium some three laps down.

Ashlee Owen wins at NW Nitro Winter Series Rd2

Ashlee Owen wins at NW Nitro Winter Series Rd2

Blackpool and North West nitro recently hosted the second round of their Winter Series. Due to some rain on the Saturday the track started out muddy and this resulted in a slighter lower turnout than normal but all those that braved it however were rewarded with an awesome track after round 1. In the Nitro Buggy final Ashlee Owen came out successful, although he suffered from a broken rear hub bearing in the closing stages. James Hargreaves came in second, Allan Ward rounded out the top 3 result.

BRCA 1/12th Nationals Rd1 – Report

Last weekend saw the first round of the 2015/16 BRCA 1/12th Nationals take place at West Kent Radio Car Club. This venue has quickly become a regular fixture on the national’s calendar having built up a good club following and boasting an excellent track and facilities. The favourite coming into the event was Xray’s Olly Jefferies. Having won the championships in dominant fashion last season he was expected to carry that momentum into this winter. However, some challengers to Olly’s dominance emerged in the form of former world champion David Spashett and also Mark Stiles. The event was close to being full with 80 competitors racing on each day and the host club also did a fantastic job of laying a track that would put most European and World Championship events to shame.

Mugen Seiki have introduced the new MBX7TR nitro and MBX7TR Eco electric truggy kits. The kits are also based on a new 3mm A7075 hard anodised chassis with increase side bends to up strength and to give a more precise felling on all surfaces. The MBX7TR uses the E2129 front upright which has a trailing axle position to improve overall steering and the steering Ackermann plate from the 7R buggy is also included in the 7TR to add more adjustability. The servo saver spring was also update to the E2316 to improve the precision of the trucks steering dramatically while the drivetrain has been changed and improved with the use of a new universal style driveshaft for both the front and rear of the truck as this greatly improves the feel of the truck on bumpy surfaces.
