Willian Capitelli wins at Curitibano Championship Rd9

Willian Capitelli wins at Curitibano Championship Rd9

The ninth and final round of the Brazilian Curitibano Championship was held at the CAAR track. Despite a worst rain forecast with rain all weekend the weather on Saturday started out of and at the end it was young Lucas Baruffi (Xray) who came out fastest after practice and seeding from fellow Xray drivers Willian Capitelli and André Franchi. The heats then started on an inconsistent and slippery track and at the end of heat four the rain came back, forcing for an hour long break until heat five could be started. Unfortunately the heaven opened its gates again and so the championship reached its end and it was Willian Capitelli who took the overall win. Lucas Baruffi grabbed the runner-up spot from Flavio Salinet (Xray) who rounded out the top 3 result.

Ryan Lutz doubles at U.A.E. National Day Event

Ryan Lutz doubles at U.A.E. National Day Event

The Binona RC track in Al Ain, UAE held its first international race event this past weekend. Although a bit light in terms of entries the event had some special guests in the form of Ryan Lutz, Surkiarn C. and Meen Vejrak. The opening qualifier of the Nitro Buggy class belonged to Ryan Lutz but making too many mistakes and being stuck in traffic meant the US boy would not be able to improve, but he would end up with the TQ in Nitro Truggy. In the opening stages of the 45 minute Buggy A-main Ryan was in a battle with Meen for the lead until he found a groove and was able to open a 2 seconds gap. A disastrous lap with three mistakes soon after saw him loosing about 18 seconds on Meen but constantly pulling high 29 seconds laps while Meen was doing low 30’s allowed Lutz to close the gap slowly but steadily. In the lead by about 10 seconds Meen made a mistake and he soon after round his tyres to become unglued so he had to pit for a new set which allowed Ryan to take over the lead and to bring home the win by some five laps after the 45 minutes. Surikarn C. would grab the runner-up spot five seconds in front of Meen V. Elsewhere in the Nitro Truggy class Ryan Lutz had a pretty easy 45 minutes, winning the race some 8 laps in front of Edward Anthonijsz in second and Tamas Klein in third.

Ryan Maifield has completed the buggy double at the Finals of the JConcepts Indoor National Series in Omaha.  Taking the an early overall victory in 2WD Mod after winning A1 & 2, the Team Losi Racing driver would have to wait until A3 and the final race of the Hobby Plex event to claim the 4WD win.  Top Qualifier in 4WD, Maifield would finish second to Spencer Rivkin in A1 but winning A2 it set up a straight battle between himself and his protege for the overall win.  Starting second behind his mentor, Rivkin would push Maifield hard for the win until his Associated hooked the piping.  Enough to give Maifield control of the race Rivkin would finish second with last year’s winner Jared Tebo coming home third to complete the podium at the fifth & final event of the JConcepts championship.
