Coelho tops practice as Matsukura closes gap

At the end of practice at the 1:10 4WD Offroad World Championships at the Yatabe Arena its Xray’s Bruno Coelho who is proving to be quickest, the Xray drivers P3 time still standing at the top of the times sheets. With none of the Top 3 after P3 improving their times, the two big movers in the final practice would be Naoto Matsukura and Michal Orlowski. 6th & 7th after three rounds, they both improved their 3-consecutive lap times to move ahead of Yusuke Sugiura and Lee Martin with Mastukura’s Kyosho reducing Coelho’s advantage to 3/10ths.

Coelho continues to set pace at Yatabe Arena

Bruno Coelho continues to set the practice pace at the 1:10 Offroad World Championships in Japan, the Xray driver setting a new fastest 3-consecutive laps in the third round.  Behind the Touring Car World Championship runner-up, Kyosho driver Yusuke Sugiura and Yokomo’s Lee Martin complete the Top 3 on the times despite both drivers not bettering their times from the second round.

4WD gets underway at World Championships

With drivers having had a day off to recover from their 2WD exploits it is back to business this morning at the Yatabe Arena as the 4WD World Championships got underway with the first round of practice. With the astro turf track undergoing two changes from that used in 2WD it was Xray’s touring car ace Bruno Coelho who found the best early footing in the high traction conditions as he lay down the early pace over 3-laps. For defending champion Steven Hartson it was not the start the Associated driver was looking for with the American set to change car for the second practice.

Protoform F1-Fifteen formula bodyshell

Protoform have announced their F1-Fifteen bodyshell for 1/10th formula cars. The body is moulded after the 2015 Formula 1 cars and features a sleek, low nose design with side-pod undercuts and an injection moulded black nylon driver’s helmet for an ultra-realistic look. A new add-on airbox scoop and decal sheet, featuring seatbelts, steering wheel detail, car numbers and a variety of helmet visor colours, complete the scale details. The F1-Fifteen fits most modern formula chassis with trimming for front and rear suspension. This body is produced in genuine 0.7mm Lexan and includes decal sheet, driver helmet, hardware and paint-then-peel overspray film.

Martinelli wins at final round of Swiss on-road nats

The final round of the Swiss Nitro On-road Nationals was held in Lostallo. With round TQs in the first and third qualifier as well as a second place behind Simon Kurzbuch (Shepherd) in the fourth qualifier Mattia Pesenti (Xray) was able to take the overall TQ in the 1/8th class from Luca Martinelli (ARC). Simon came in third while the ARC duo of Christophe Pethoud and Thomas Henzi completed the top 5 after the qualifiers.

Italian Race of Champions – Report

Italian Race of Champions – Report

The Italian Race of Champions was held in Leno, Italy in the four classes of Touring Car Modified, Touring Car Stock, 1/10th Pan Car and Formula. As the event started out wet the organisers decided to eliminate the usual round by round qualifying by a super pole race, counting the three fastest consecutive laps. In the Touring Modified class Kyle Branson took the TQ from Dario Balestri. The opening final then had Kyle coming out successful with Alessio Menicucci in second while in A2 Alessio grabbed the win as Kyle and Dario had a coming together. The decisive third A-main had Alessio, Dario and Kyle running into tyre issues but at the end Kyle was able to take the overall win from Alessio Menicucci and Stefan Chodzynski.

Yokomo YZ-4 1/10th 4WD buggy kit

During this week’s 2015 IFMAR Electric Offroad World Championships Yokomo’s all-new YZ-4 1/10th 4WD electric off-road buggy is making a first public appearance following its stealthy debut at the opening round of the 2015/16 EOS. Designed by Shin Adachi the car features a totally new drivetrain layout with dual 2WD-style 3-gear transmissions on ether end which are coupled by dual drivebelts to replace the shaft drivetrain of the proven yet slightly ageing B-Max4 car. The setup allows to use very small gear differentials without having to worry skipping belts while the overall design also results in an easier to drive and less edgy car.

Dreams do come true - Rivkin is World Champion

His team-manager Brent Theilke has been using the hashtag #dreamsdocometrue to highlight the progress of his young driver’s first World Championship and the use of wording couldn’t have turned out to be more true with Spencer Rikvin your new 1:10 2WD World Champion. The 16-year-old claimed the sport’s greatest accolade by backing up his A2 win with an even more impressive drive to victory in A3.  Going up for the title against two of the sport’s biggest names, Jared Tebo and Ryan Cavalieri, what was special about the performance in Japan was how the new star of offroad dealt with the pressure of the occasion like water off a duck’s back.  Behind Rivkin, outgoing champion Tebo would claim second overall with Cavalieri completing the podium at the Yatabe Arena.
