I have many times told the story of how I got my first SBF license (The Swedish license you need to go racing). Since my dad was a hard core RC racer before I was even born he wanted his son to get into RC as early as possible. So 2 weeks after my birth he called SBF and applied for a driving license. However I was not in the system yet (this was 1980) so he had to wait. Two months later I was in the system and I got my first SBF license and was allowed to race. Why am I telling this story? Well I just wanted you to know that I have been around since before I can remember.

Caribbean Invitational 2015 – Report

JamRock Radio Control Car Club of Kingston, Jamaica, recently hosted its inaugural Caribbean Invitational event. The Jamaicans competed with racers from Curacao as well as Trinidad and Tobago at this historic event whose 3-day schedule included a day of open practice, four rounds of qualifying and single nitro as well as triple electric A-mains. Michael Clarke (Jamaica) took the TQ in 1/10th scale Nitro Sedan, Andy Debique (Trinidad & Tobago) came out fastest in 1/8th Nitro GT, Nikoli Yap (Jamaica) TQ’d 1/8th scale 4WD Open and Marwen Martina (Curacao) put his car on top of the Electric Touring 13.5 Blinky timing sheets.

RC Concept EC8 1/8th scale brushless motor

French company RC Concept introduce their new EC8 electric brushless motor for 1/8th scale classes. Featuring a 7075-T6 aluminium can, high-quality neodymium magnet and copper wire material, the motor will produce more torque while offering increased efficiency. The backplate sports dual sensor ports and the motor is available in a 1900kv, 2100kv and 2500kv variant all of which are usable with 3S to 4S input.

Capricorn Lab C802 front body support

Capricorn have a new front body support kit for the Lab C802 1/8th scale on-road car available. Ball bearing equipped carbon fibre plates attach to the front lower A-arms with the assembly helping to retain the bodyshell’s front fenders at a certain height to make for better aerodynamics and less body and tyre scrub during hard cornering. Included in the set come two carbon fibre brackets, ball races and mounting hardware.

New from Corally comes a 75W soldering station. Featuring a high-power Hakko heating element the station reaches the working temperature fast while the microprocessor-controlled unit allows for easy setup and temperature adjustment in 1 degree Celsius increments. The soldering iron sports a comfortable rubber handle and the soldering tip is replaceable without any additional tools. A sleeping mode and automatic shutdown makes for convenient, economic and secure usage of the station that allows for a temperature range of 200 to 450 degree Celsius or the respective Fahrenheit equivalent.

Nicholas Lee wins Modified Touring class at AOC Rd3

The 3rd round of the Asian On-Road Championships was held at the Urban Playspace track in Singapore. Despite a low turnout of drivers for the event, competition was high with most of Singapore’s top drivers present along with a few racers from Malaysia. The race format saw six qualifying rounds of which four counted toward the qualifying result. Nicholas Lee was the man to beat in the Touring Car Modified class and he would take the TQ in front of Daryl Thong who battled it out with PY Tang for the 2nd place on the grid.

Muchmore UK GP Series Rd2 – Report

Muchmore UK GP Series Rd2 - Report

The second round of the 2015 GP series, was hosted by the Carlisle Radio Model Car Club in the North West of England. The event runs four qualifying rounds on the Saturday with a further two on Sunday morning, followed by triple finals and featuring the five classes of Touring Car Modified, Pro-Stock, Spec, Mini and Formula. In Modified, Xray driver Peter Eagles repeated his success at last month’s round in Stonehaven and took the win in Modified from John Simpson (Schumacher) in second and Adam Howe (Team Durango) in third.

Marcin Maliński wins at Polish 1/8th buggy race

A recent 1/8th Buggy race held in Nowa Gadaka near Lodz saw Serpent racer Marcin Maliński taking the win in the main final with his O.S. powered ride. Fellow racers Igor Goderski (Serpent/O.S.) and Borys Nitschke (Serpent/Novarossi) came in second and third respectively.
