Tekno NT48.3 1/8th nitro truggy kit

Tekno NT48.3 1/8th nitro truggy kit

The latest in the line of Tekno’s .3 vehicles is the NT48.3 nitro truggy kit. Designed to be faster, nimbler and easier to drive, the truck is based on a new chassis with eliminated rear engine configuration for optimised handling and flex characteristics of the front engine layout. This also improves the gear mesh between the clutch bell and new 46t spur gear and also helped to calm the rear of the car. Also new are larger, fully CNC machined, hardened, and ground discs to replace the old parts. Improved semi-metallic brake pads are now separated by springs to ensure the brakes are only engaged when the driver want them to be. The biggest change made to the brakes however, is with the linkage for better consistency and easier brake bias adjustments.

HNS Austria Rd2 – Report

HNS Austria Rd2 – Report

The second and final round of HNS Austria series was held at the MRC-Fruehwirth track in Sollenau, located 20 kilometres south of Vienna. The track layout chosen was the super fast 1980’s original with a long straight, big sweeper and long back straight with around five to seven seconds of full throttle. On this track, with an overall length of 345 metres, Christoph Pietsch set a new track record of 15.8 seconds, with an average speed of 78.6 km/h. The premier class of 1/8th Nitro saw an entertaining fight of Herfried Pucher (ARC/Picco) and Michael Klausner (Mugen/Picco) for the TQ with both winning two rounds each and the TQ being taken by Herfried as Michael made too many mistakes. In third Rene Pflanzl (ARC/Max) grabbed the 3 spot after the qualifiers.

JConcepts B5 series servo mount bracket

JConcepts B5 series servo mount bracket

JConcepts have introduced a special servo mount for Team Associated’s fifth generation off-road vehicles. Constructed of billet aluminium and available in either blue or black colors, the part offers benefits over the stock mount configuration. First, the mount fits snug inside the chassis servo mounting area increasing the support across while the two screw mounting locations are beefy in design and zeroed in for a direct mount to that chassis. Second, the bracket has locations on each side for included 3x6mm setscrews to help align and maintain servo position during racing conditions, crashes and hard hits. The set screws are intended to touch-off against the servo case and provide additional support keeping the servo in the intended position which helps maintain consistent steering trim. The servo mount bracket can be installed without any modifications or additional equipment in the 5-series of vehicles, such as the B5, T5 and SC5, and immediately brings peace of mind to the detail-oriented racer.

Team Orion Vortex VST2 Pro XLW brushless motors

Team Orion Vortex VST2 Pro XLW brushless motors

Team Orion have introduced the Vortex VST2 Pro XLW electric brushless motors. They are based off of the successful VST2 Pro motors and feature a smaller outer diameter of only 34mm which, combined with repositioned mounting holes, allows to mount the motor lower in the chassis for a lower centre of gravity and thus faster cornering. High-quality stator material and a high efficiency design makes them as powerful as standard diameter motors, making them ideal for virtually all 1/10th classes. The motors will become available as 4.5T to 9.5T modified and 10.5T to 21.5T stock variants.

Jörn Neumann snatches another German Nats title

Jörn Neumann snatches another German Nats title

This year’s German 1/10th scale 4WD Electro Off-road Nationals were held at the iconic MAC Burgdorf track near Hanover. Saturday started off with good weather, three practice rounds and the first qualifiers and it was the triple of Björn Prümper, Jörn Neumann and Tom Maquel that battled for the TQ spot. Overnight rain made the astro turf track slippery and the drivers had to adjust their buggy’s setup for the remaining two qualifiers and the finals. At the end Björn took the pole position for the triple A-mains from Jörn who in turn made a clean sweep in the finals by winning A1 and A2 to take the overall title early. Tom Maquel came in second while Luca Rau rounded out the top 3 result in the 4WD Buggy class.
