Soeren Boy Holst joins VBC Racing

VBC Racing have announced the signing of Danish front runner Soeren Boy Holst to their team. The multiple National and former Tamiya European and World Champion will use the company’s Ghost Evo Carbon touring car kit in his upcoming campaign that starts with the second round of the Danish Championship in mid-June. The former T.O.P. Racing driver has the following to say about the deal:

I would like to say thanks a lot to T.O.P. Racing for the big support in the past four and a half years. Now it’s time for new challenges, and I am very happy to join VBC Racing. The quality of their cars is really high, with lots of nice technical features that makes the cars very competitive, and I can’t wait to try my new ride on the tracks. My aim is to continue the good results, give good feedback to VBC and off course to help other VBC drivers with setup and tips. See You at the tracks!

Austrian Electric On-road Nationals Rd3 – Report

The third round of the Austrian Electric On-road Nationals was held in Laa a.d. Thaya with 30 driver attending in the three classes of Touring Car Modified, Touring Car Stock and Formula. Two extremely hot racing days displayed awesome racing in every class and in Touring Car Modified everyone expected the next safe victory from Dominic Vogel, but this time there was more to come. Patrik Gollner proved to be a tough challenger and by using his second set of new tyres in the last qualification heat, Dominic managed to take the TQ in front of Patrik and Mario Sowka. For the finals Patrik had a new set of tyres and from the very first corner he was the fastest man on the track but it was Dominic who held the line and even though Patrik was up to 0.5 seconds faster he was not able to pass. Finally Dominic had two flawless finals and was able to take a very very close win, followed by Patrik and Mario on third position.

Avid’s Satellite 2.2″ disc wheels are now also available in a limited edition black colour variant. Coming as 2WD front and 2WD/4WD rear variant the wheels feature a 12mm hex, making them usable for all Team Associated B5 and Kyosho RB6 buggies. MCD Micro Stud V2 large scale tyres

MCD have introduced the Micro Stud V2 tyre for large scale off-road buggies. Following an extensive optimisation process the tyres are now even lighter, weighing in at only 150g, saving around 25 percent of weight per tyre and thus scrubbing a total of 200g per set without sacrificing handling and durability. The 180mm tyres are available in a soft and medium rubber compound.

Michal Abrahamek wins at Czech IC Track Nats Rd1

The opening round of the Czech Nitro On-road Championship was held in Brno in very hot weather conditions. Michal Abrahamek (Xray/O.S.) would take the pole position in the growing 1/8th class. For the 45 minute main final Michal opted to go for softer tyres and 4:30 minute fuel stints and at the end his efforts paid out as he won the main some 3 laps ahead of Jirka Vysin (Xray/O.S.) and Martej Benda (Xray/O.S.).

Western German Nitro On-road champs Rd3 – Report

Round 3 of the Western German Nitro On-road Championships were recently held at the fast Hamm track with a total of 53 drivers in attendance. John Ermen captured his second win in 1/8th Nitro On-road class 1 while his ARC team mate and fellow countryman Benny Ciere celebrated his first victory in 1/8th class 2. In 1/10th scale it was guest driver Dirk Wischnewski (Shepherd) who took the victory from 2nd placed Marc Fischer (Serpent). In 1/8th scale class 1 John Ermen already took his third pole position of his 2015 campaign with his Reds-powered ARC. Only Ermen, Tobias Hepp (Mugen) and Michael Salven (Serpent) were able to complete 20 laps with a superb six seconds advantage for Ermen. But the Dutch racer was lucky to escape some technical troubles during his semifinal to finish third behind Salven and Christian Wurst (Capricorn). The second semifinal went to Hepp followed by Karl-Heinz Meister (Serpent) and Frank Schewiola (Capricorn).

Hot Race Nitro Cup – Report

This past weekend the Miniautodromo Internazionale Mario Rosati in Gubbio, Italy hosted the Hot Race Nitro Cup. Run in the three classes of 1/8th on-road, 1/10th National with free tyres and additive as well as 1/10th World with spec tyres the race attracted a good amount of drivers. The TQ in the 1/8th class went to Jonathan Marchetti (Mugen/Reds) in front of Nicola Marrone (Xray/Max) and Domenico Calce (Serpent/Max). The main final then saw Marchetti carrying on to dominate while Marrone and Calce were forced to retire. This allowed Sandro Sammarini (Serpent/OS) and Enrico Gallorini (Serpent/Max) to grab podium spots in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Bruno Coelho doubles at Portuguese Nationals Rd3

Round 3 of the Portuguese Nitro On-road National Championship was held at the São João da Madeira track in Oporto in the north of the country. The track was recently revived after not being in use for some ten years and due to the surface being pretty green tyre wear would be an issue for both the 1/8th and 1/10th classes. Bruno Coelho was the man to beat in both categories and so he would take the TQ after the qualifiers with a margin of a lap to the 2nd place drivers. In the 1/8th final Bruno’s biggest competitor for the win scored a DNF due to an engine failure only ten laps into the race. From that moment on Coelho was able to cruise to the win with his Xray prototype and despite a total of three tyre changes Bruno won the race some 7 laps in front of 2nd placed Hugo Exposto (Mugen).
