On form Brunet takes Q2 & 3 at MIBO International

France’s Antoine Brunet is the man on form at the MIBO International Race this afternoon, the Xray driver posting TQ runs in the second and third rounds of qualifying at the Czech event.  Having opening the day with P2 behind Ronald Volker, Brunet went one better in Q2 as Volker struggled with a set-up change before crashing out.  Oliver Havranek would make it an Xray 1-2 with ahead of the Yokomo of Christopher Krapp and Eric Dankel who had given Mugen a 1-2 in Q1.  Finding his form even better was to come from Brunet in Q3 as he set a new fastest time bettering that of Volker by over a second.  Again it was Havranek who was second fastest as he got to within 1/10th of  a second of his team-mate.  Back after his Q2 crash but struggling with his new body shell, Volker would complete the Top 3 ahead the IRIS One of Dionys Stadler.

Coelho doubles Q1, Zalewski doubles Q2

There were double TQ runs in each of the opening two rounds of Offroad Qualifying at the MIBO International, Q1 being ruled by Bruno Coelho, and Bartosz Zalewski making his mark in Q2.  Opening the action with 2WD, top seed Coelho took a very convincing TQ run from Xray team-mates Martin Bayer and Max Gotzl before topping the 4WD times from Zalewski for the perfect start to qualifying.  Retiring from Q1 in 2WD, Zalewski made amends second time round capitalising on many mistakes from Coelho to secure the TQ.  With his confidence running high, the Polish driver then added a 4WD TQ run again taking advantage of mistakes by Coelho who finished well down the order, as Bayer claimed P2 ahead of Gotzl.

Volker takes Q1 from Dankel at MIBO International

Ronald Volker has taken the opening round of qualifying at the MIBO International Race, the German topping the times from fellow Mugen driver Eric Dankel.  Behind, No.2 seed Antoine Brunet would set the third fastest time from Xray team-mate Oliver Havranek, the latter having been at the top the timing screen for the early part of the heat.  Third fastest in seeding Christopher Krapp suffered with his driving in Q1, report his Yokomo as working fine he made three mistakes that left him only 15th fastest.  Summarising his run, Volker said, ‘it started off slow, I’m not sure why, but then I had a nice clean run’.  Topping the first of the five qualification rounds by 1.1 seconds from Dankel, the former World Champion plans to try a different tyre prep for his second attempt in the hope of getting his car to to speed quicker than in Q1.  He said, ‘Unlike other races the additive and cleaner here is open so I will slightly change my tyre prep plus I will also switch to a harder diff.’

Inaugural MIBO International is GO!

1 Race, 2 Tracks, almost 250 entries, and tons of action – the inaugural MIBO International Race is GO with drivers easing themselves into the busy weekend schedule with an evening of free practice in Hrotovice, Czech Republic.  The central double sided drivers stand has had a constant flow of both onroad and offroad drivers since the 17:00 start, all eager to dial in their cars ahead of the five rounds of qualifying, four of which make up Saturday’s schedule.  In touring car a lap is running at 13-seconds while over on the the buggy track quick laps are running in the late 17-seconds for 4WD and mid 18-seconds for 2WD.

ARC R8.4 1:8 Onroad Chassis

ARC has released its latest 1:8 Onroad Nitro racing chassis for the 2023 season, the R8.4.  Based on the R8.3, the R8.4 features numerous improvements to deliver a massive step in overall performance.  The car features an all-new chassis with a stiffer mid-section while they have lowered the engine position on the R8.2 LCG by removing the material below the engine area.  The new R8.4 chassis has no milling below the engine to help increase chassis hardness and improve rear side bite.  All-new lower suspension arms front and rear lower the suspension arm design is the result of extensive during the 2022 racing season in various traction levels around the world.  The new arms are thinner all around but features reinforced areas in the rear lower arm for better impact resistance.  They give significantly more corner speed and makes the car much easier to drive. These improved characteristics have been proven across various traction levels and at varying tire diameters.

RSRC Kyosho MP10 gas cooler mount

Reno Savoya’s RSRC has produced this gas cooler mount for Kyosho MP10 1:8 Buggy.  With the reduction of the nitro rate used in fuels in Europe, engine efficiency is becoming something critical.  Cooling the exhaust gas going back to the fuel tank is actually a quick trick that can improve mileage and engine stability.  As it is always tough to find the right spot to fit the gas cooler on your car, so RSRC has designed a quick and easy mount for the Kyosho MP10. Made of Flex TPU for rubber-like flexibility it fits 12mm exhaust gas coolers and is sold separately.

2023 Canadian Onroad Nationals – Announcement

With less then a month to go until the hosting of the 2023 Canadian Onroad Nationals presented by Awesomatix USA, the organisers have announced they have already reached an impressive 320 entries.   Taking place at the Seaway Mall in Welland, Ontario, from March 30th- April 2nd, the race will not only crown the Canadian National Champions over the various classes but it will also showcase the hobby of RC Racing as the track is located in the centre court of the mall giving an extra special atmosphere to the championships.  Multiple champion and Canada’s best known onroad racer Kevin Hebert heads the modified entry while Stock Touring Car looks set to have the biggest grid with over 50 drivers registered closely followed by the USGT class.
