Roman & Herman selected for ‘Rising Star Program’

A program that was started at the Canadian National Championship in 2018,  the ‘Rising Star Program’ was awarded to two young talents of the hobby at the latest running of the Onroad Nationals in Ontario over the weekend.  Having made the award for the first time to an American driver Riley Drennen last November at the legendary U.S. Indoor Champs in Cleveland, this time round they selected Julianna Roman and Paxton Herman based on them exhibiting sportsmanship and dedication to the hobby.  The panel have looked at Juliana year after year but never had a pan car option so were really pleased to finally give her the award thanks to CRC.  Hoping to grow the program and get more manufactures on board so they can expand it around the world they have already been contacted by RC Maker since the latest presentation saying they want to be involved in the future!  As part of being selected as ‘Rising Stars’,  Julianna and Paxton were each presented with full racing outfits from the program’s supporters – Teamzombie Canada (batteries), Motiv/Gravity (tyres and motors), SJT Tires (tyres), CRC (car kit), Orca (esc), Key Fulcrum (servos), Rs3d Printing (car stands), JT bearings (bearing kits), Outlaw RC (free racing for there class next year), Phoenix RC Raceway (free practice and racing for a season) and Niagara RC (indoor free practice and racing for a season).

PRO1RC Tires enters 1:8 Offroad Market

American company PRO1RC has announced its entry into the US tyre market with the launch of a US designed range of 1:8 Offroad tyres.  PRO1RC Tires will initially offer four buggy models for all track conditions, the DIRT-00, DIRT-01, DIRT-02, DIRT-03 with Truggy versions to follow shortly.  As a new entrant into the USA market they say they will be the first brand that will offer customers to buy the tyres separately from the insert, an option they highlight will save customers money as they can recycle previous insert. In terms of the tyre design one feature is they covered the inside with some bridges that cross the entire tyre which they claim saw made the tyre become much more consistent with the passing of the laps than just with the usual 3 lines, and, it resulted in extended tyre life.  Another feature they have implement in the design are the sidewalls of the tyres, adding 40% more bridges, this helps to be able to accelerate much more strongly in the corner supports.

Yokomo BD12

Yokomo has officially released details of its newest 1:10 Touring Car the BD12.  The Japanese World Championship winning manufacturer says their ‘touring cars, which bring innovation with its highly creative design, has evolved into the “BD12”, a racing machine that tends to be uniformly designed.  While maintaining the same balance between pitching and roll as before, the racing design has achieved an even lower centre of gravity.  The advanced design makes the obvious a thing of the past, and will lead the racing scene in the 2023-24 series. Based on a new motor mount that controls pitching rigidity, the chassis roll is controlled by the front and rear split upper decks, which together with the A.T.F active top deck flex, provide sharp cornering.  The front and rear shocks are also shortened, and bearings are mounted in the spring holders to absorb spring torsion when the shocks are actuated, resulting in linear operation.

MIBO Drift King Gyro

MIBO has introduced a new Drift King Gyro that is a new generation among gyros of its category.  Racers may have come across gain curve settings (PCA, QUICK, Gain curve etc.) on a top-end gyros already but until now, it was in higher price range and harder to set up.  This function, however, moves the RWD drift machines driving to a next level.  Setting the gain level is not just about compromise between enough stabilisation and not losing steering response, thanks to it.  It allows the smoothest possible ride, with sensitive control and quick angle changes.  That’s why we wanted to bring the gain curve to a lower price category.  The curve progression was tuned in cooperation with drivers of various categories, from beginners to experienced competition drivers, so it fits well for most users possible and built into the gyro software.  That means it works optimally right after switching the gyro on and doesn’t bring any extra setting to worry about.

Yokomo MD1.0 Red/Purple Version

Yokomo has released two limited editions of their Master Drift MD1.0 drift car, the Red Version and the Purple Version.  A drift car  chassis that has gained the support of expert drivers as a high-end competition machine, it is now available in a limited edition version covered with red/purple colour anodised parts.  The contrast between the chic matte graphite parts and the brightly coloured anodised parts dramatically increases the sense of ownership of the chassis.  The basic design is the same as the previous MD1.0, but this colour version has a 4-gear rear drive for even greater acceleration traction.  This specification is ideal for P-tile and coloured concrete surfaces with low grip, increasing the sense of speed in single runs and building an advantage in pursuit runs as well.

Reds Racing Rotary Backplate

Reds Racing has finally released its RTX Rotary Backplate which the Italian engine brand claim is an engineering masterpiece that will revolutionise the world of RC Model Nitro Engines.  Developed by Marco and Mario Rossi in collaboration with some of the best RC drivers in the world, the backplate aims to increase engine power and improve stability at idle speed thanks to a drastic reduction in friction between the connecting rod and backplate.   Reds Racing was one of the first companies in the world to work on reducing the friction between the backplate connecting rod with the introduction of DLC coating on the backplate.  This time their engineers have invented something unique in the RC model market, destined to be considered one of the most innovative solutions of the last 30 years.  Contrary to what happens for traditional RC engines, where the connecting rod slides on the backplate producing sliding friction, in the RTX Backplate the connecting rod is in contact with a special steel plate that can rotate together with the conrod thanks to the fact that it is mounted on two special high speeds ball bearings.  The backplate is designed, made and tested in Italy respecting the best quality standards. It is currently only available as an optional part and suitable only for Reds Racing engines on road and off road.
