2023 Desert Classic – Announcement

Hobby Action in Chandler, Arizona have announced the date for the 2023 Desert Classic with the 7th edition of the annual event taking place from March 1st to 5th. An event that has established itself as a major fixture in the early part of the international 1:10 Offroad calendar after filling the void left after the demise of the Cactus Classic. Again sponsored by Stickit1 Racing, the 2023 edition is set to have even more significance on the calendar as a preparation race for the IFMAR 1:10 Offroad World Championships that Hobby Action will host in September of this year. Entries for the Desert Classic are open from the 22nd of this month and the race will be open to all the usual classes.

MonTech M22 1:12 Body

Coming from MonTech is their new M22 1:12 plan car bodyshell. The new design features sleek lines that result in an extremely clean airflow across the bodywork. On the track, this translates into extreme speed, cornering and entry while also providing great stability. Formed from high quality polycarbonate, the M22 is available in two versions, ‘Standard’ which weighs 40grams and the lightweight ‘La Leggera’ which is just 22grams.

Crompton joins Xray

Xray has announced that UK driver Paul Crompton is joining the Xray Team to race the both its 1:10 electric and 1:8 nitro offroad platforms. With a 2023 programme that will include the 1:10 Offroad World Championships in Arizona in September, Crompton said, ” I’m really excited to join the Xray factory team, I can’t wait to to start racing with the cars and do everything I can to get the best results possible. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone at XRAY and the Hudy family for giving me this opportunity. Let’s make 2023 an amazing year!”

Tollard joins Protek RC

AMain Hobbies has announced the signing of Cole Tollard to a contract with its ProTek RC Pro Race Team. The 22-year-old, who made a high profile move to TLR for 2023, will run ProTek RC Samurai RM engines as well as ProTek RC batteries and servos in his race program and utilise the vast line of ProTek RC tools and accessories. On the announcement Tollard said, “I am so excited to join the ProTek RC team. I have heard so many great things about the ProTek RC product line, and can’t wait to incorporate the ProTek RC engines, servos, batteries, tools, and accessories into my racing program. I want to thank everyone at AMain Hobbies for this opportunity and am really looking forward to this 2023 season.”

O.S.SPEED B21 Ongaro W.C

Famed Japanese engine manufacturer OS Engines are commemorating the addition of another World Championship title with the release of the special edition O.S.SPEED B21 Ongaro W.C engine. In Redovan, Spain, last September factory driver Davide Ongaro took the overall TQ using a B21 Ongaro Edition before going on to secure a back to back World title. Now this latest edition of the engine feature parts changed to during the successful defence of this World title. The outer head has a new design that improved by reducing weight and lowering the center of gravity for better balance. The laser design has also been brushed up and a graphic with a laurel wreath that honours the world champion has been applied. The φ6.5mm reducer used at the World Championships is also used, and both parts are made with Ongaro’s request colour jewellery blue anodised aluminium, creating a strong presence as a special model. The B21 Ongaro W.C special edition is only available in Combo Set with TB02 EFRA2089 (T-2090SC) + MB01-75 (M2000SC).

Avid HB D2 Evo Carbon Shock Towers

Avid Racing has released new carbon fibre shock towers for the HB Racing D2 Evo 1:10 2WD Buggy. The towers are made from 4mm carbon fibre and feature lightly chamfered edges to help prevent splitting. They maintain kit geometry with the shock mount holes maintaining kit locations.

Redcat Gen9 Trail Truck

Redcat has released its latest offroader, the Gen9 – International Harvester 800A Trail Truck. Loaded with features, the Gen9 has a two speed transmission, newly designed portal axles, precision suspension geometry with zero bump steer, new compound tires, high torque steering servo, adjustable wheelbase and a highly detailed body with a rear pivot mounting design. It features a meticulously crafted officially licensed International Scout 800A body. Molded in three separate pieces which allow for a more realistic full depth interior, the body is internally braced and uses a rear locking pivot mechanism with dual quarter turn fasteners up front. In the interior, you’ll find an injection molded dashboard, front and rear seats, foot pedals, shifters, door levers, window cranks, removable steering wheel and there’s even a turn signal lever on the steering column. The exterior includes an injection molded roll cage, rock sliders, bumpers, side view mirrors, door handles, windshield wipers, front grill, and buckets for headlights and taillights.
