Olivier Bultynck wins at rainy Belgium TC nats Rd3

The 3rd round of the Belgium Electric Touring Car Nationals took place at the track of Bierset under bad weather conditions with a lot of water on the track. After the qualifiers it was defending champion Olivier Bultynck who took the pole in front of Nicolas Delisé and Nick Joosens. Olivier had a splendid start in the first final and started to pull away from the rest. Due to the constant rain all drivers where struggling with the track conditions but Bart Van Sande, coming from 8th place on the grid, started to challenge Nick while suddenly Olivier’s car stopped, ending his final. In the meantime Nick had taken over the lead following a mistake from Bart. Paul Dejonghe was in 3rd place and he was able to hold the position until the final. This meant Nick would take the win with a happy Bart grabbing the runner-up spot in the opening A-final.

Ryan Maifield goes Team Orion

Only days after the news of Ryan Maifield leaving his long-term sponsors Team Associated, Reedy and LRP, Team Orion announce Ryan’s signing through 2015. Ryan will be utilising all of Team Orion’s 1/10 & 1/8 electric products such motors, speed controllers, batteries, servos and chargers. The 11-times ROAR national champion brings great knowledge and experience to Team Orion and he will play a big role in the company’s research and development team while being part of the “Strong Six” US team with the likes of Ryan Cavalieri, Jared Tebo, Dakotah Phend, Dustin Evans, and Ty Tessman. Ryan has this to say about the deal:

I have always thought of Team Orion as the “bench mark” of quality and performance in the R/C industry. I told myself if I ever had the opportunity to race for Team Orion, I would do it. Darren Bloomfield wins at Eden Park

The 1/10th Off Road BRCA National series moved on to Eden Park Raceway, South East London for the 4th round of the highly competitive series. Whilst the 2WD championship is still relatively open, with 3 different winners from the first 3 nationals, 4WD was a different story with Neil Cragg looking to wrap up the series. The club have made a few changes to the track, removing some of the more vicious curbs and opening up new layouts, giving them opportunity to lay a fresh layout for both days. Saturday morning started sunny and dry, the racers on Yellow Minispikes for their double 3 minute practices, but the discussion was all about when the threatened rain would arrive, and we did n’ot have to wait long, arriving midway through round 1, leaving Richard Thorpe to make the most of the opportunity to take round 1.

Jason Nugroho wins Lap Paradise Challenge

The Lap Paradise Challenge was held in Johor Bahru with 50 entries from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Switzerland in attendance. The race format saw three rounds of 10 minute qualifying with the best round to count and “Christmas tree” bump-up finals. Jason Nugroho was able to TQ the first two rounds of qualifying until Didier Perrin from Switzerland took the overall TQ in the 3rd and final qualifier.

Toni Gruber wins 200mm class at EFRA GP Leipzig

Toni Gruber wins 200mm class at EFRA GP Leipzig

At the recent EFRA GP in Leipzig, Germany Toni Gruber took the win in the 1/10th 200mm nitro on-road class. In the final he came out successful leaving Rico Kröber and Willy Lehmann behind. Alexander Naumov completed the top 4 result. In the 1/8th class Toni started from pole position and he was able to pull away quickly but a technical issues around the 12 minute mark ended his chance to take the second win of the day. The win then went to Michael Kammer with Merlin Depta and Alain Levy completing the podium.

Hagberg & Cerny take Touring Car Euros warm-up

This past weekend the warm-up race for the EFRA Electric Touring Car European Championship was held at the ARCA track in Alcobendas. Both the Modified and Stock Spec class had quite a low turn out with 11 and 12 drivers respectively. In the Modified class Alexander Hagberg made a clean sweep by taking TQ, the fastest lap and a triple win in the A-final to leave David Perez and Juan Antonio Hidalgo Garrido in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. In the Spec class Marek Cerny came out successful starting from pole position into the triple finals. He left Jaime De Esteban Y Calderon behind in 2nd while Mattia Collina completed the podium in 3rd.

Philipp & Pius Walleser win in Singen

Philipp & Pius Walleser win in Singen

A round of the SM Championship was run in Singen, Germany in mixed weather conditions. In the highly competitive GT class Philipp Walleser took all three qualifying rounds and also successfully ended the finals to take the day’s win. By taking the Singen round of the series the young man also made a big step towards the overall championship win. Elsewhere in the Sport class Philipp’s father and pitman Pius also came out successful despite a stressful weekend with constant setup changes due to the demanding weather conditions.
