Martin Wollanka wins Xray Offroad GP Italy

The recent Xray Offroad GP Italy was run in mixed weather conditions with the Saturday being washed away by rain. To overcome the waiting time the Xray team held a tech meeting and later had a go at a nearby karting track with the race being won by Martin Bayer in front of Miguel Matias and Martin Wollanka. Come Sunday the track was still muddy but the race started nevertheless with 1/8th E-buggy qualifying. The round was won by Martin Wollanka who suffered from a mistake mid-race but electrical problems by the then-leading Miguel Matias handed Martin back the win in the qualifier.

VBC Firebolt 2WD buggy – Production prototype

VBC Fibrebolt 2WD buggy – Production prototype

VBC Racing have first images of their forthcoming first 2WD off-road buggy available. The Firebolt is based around a narrow 2.5mm 7075 aluminium chassis with adjustable chassis flex system and a carbon fibre battery brace. Composite sidepods prevent dust, dirt and moisture from entering the chassis while giving additional support when a shorty LiPo battery pack is used. The battery mount will also take saddle or square pack batteries while the upper carbon brace incorporates a fan mount to cool the mid motor when needed. The kit will include several aluminium parts from stock such as 12mm big bore shocks, front arm mount, rear bulkhead and rear suspension mounts. The shock towers are cut from 3.7mm carbon fibre and the turnbuckles and CV-type driveshafts are made from high-quality spring steel. There is no official release date so far but expect the buggy to hit stores anytime this Summer.

Team C TC02C gear differential – Coming soon

Team C TC02C gear differential – Coming soon

Team C have released first images of their somewhat older TC02C 2WD mid motor buggy with gear differential option. Although the company’s TM2 seem like a hot ticket on ultra high grip surfaces some team drivers preferred the conventional TC02C better on medium traction or clay tracks. The gear diff option, that from what we understand includes also a new gearbox, is designed to replace the stock ball differential with a solution that allows for improved forward bite when needed. We bring you more information on the part(s) as soon as we get them.

BRCA 1/8th on-road nationals Rd4 – Report

The 4th round of the 2014 BRCA 1/8th Circuit National Championship was held at the Adur circuit to the South of London. This track this the smallest on the current calendar and in relation to Formula One, this is like being at Monaco since the true potential of a current 1/8th scale car is never realised to its maximum. With all the championship contenders present except for Bancroft who was preparing for the ENS, the competition up front would be close. Mark Green was present and alongside him was Joaquin Desota from the USA who is in England on business. Desota is well known since his father operates Serpent America and is a regular top finalist in his country so he comes with a big reputation and should challenge the current drivers but he would have to start in heat 1 due to having no ranking points.
