All change as Tebo announces AKA departure

With the news earlier in the week that his stint with Tekno RC was over, Jared Tebo has today announced that he will also not be continuing with long time tyre sponsor AKA in 2023.  The American started with the brand in 2009 and has been running their products every year since with the exception of the 2016.  Making the announcement on social media, in thanking everyone at AKA, he attributed their Three Rib front tyre as being a major part of his 2013 1:10 2WD Offroad World Championship victory.  Also switching engine for the new season, it will be interesting to see what new package Tebo hits the track with in 2023. Protoform Speed3 190mm FWD TC Body


Protoform has just introduced its latest body for high-competition 1:10 Front Wheel Drive Electric Touring Car Racing, the Speed3.  The striking new body takes styling cues from popular Japanese hot hatches competing in full-scale TCR classes around the globe, featuring aggressive fender flares and a slammed hatchback roofline.  The Speed3 also features the easiest mounting of any Protoform body yet.  Returning are their signature mounting marks inside the front wheel arches, allowing you to choose your body positions in 2mm increments up to +8mm.  In addition, are sets of markings on the hood and rear bumper to easily line up your body posts no matter what you prefer. This body is designed to meet the new FWD Global Body Spec rules and is fully approved for EFRA competition (#5004).  It’s made in the USA from high-quality, super-durable 0.7mm polycarbonate and is supplied complete with convenient plastic wing buttons and under-wing “nuts”, with M3 mounting screws.  A stylish decal sheet, window masks, and overspray film complete the package.

MIBO International Race – Schedule & Classes

Following on from the recent announcement of the new MIBO International Race that will take place in the Czech Republic on March 3-5, details of the race weekend schedule and the classes have been published.  The international indoor event will bring together both offroad and onroad as it presents two separate tracks at the Sport V Hotel in Hrotovice.  A venue that always proved hugely popular with racers for the sheer convenience of being able to race, eat and sleep all under one roof.   the Mibo International Race is also node to the past when individual international race weekends were once common and made up the indoor season.   Onroad, the racing action will cater for Modified, 13.5 Stock & FWD Touring cars plus Formula.  Offroad will cater for 2WD and 4WD Buggy as well an open class of ‘Offroad Kids’ that will give the future stars of racing an opportunity to be a part of this international event.

Surpass Hobby Rocket-RC 550 Drag Motor

Surpass Hobby has launched a new drag racing specific sensored brushless motor, the Rocket RC 550 Drag.  Designed specially for Associated DR10, Losi 22S, Traxxas Drag 1:10 linear acceleration models, key characteristics of the new motor are its light weight and small volume.  Matched with the Rocket RC 220A ESC, the 6500kv brushless motor provide high torque but can also be paired with other top brands of ESC.  To ensure the motor’s rotor runs smoothly at high speed it is fitted with original NMB Japanese bearings.

Wallace Motorsports ‘Hall of Fame’ O.S. Speed R21

Wallace Motorsports in conjunction with SMJ and O.S. Speed have developed a limited edition, Wallace Motorsports Hall of Fame R21 to commemorate Ben Wallace, as the first undrafted player to be inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame.  This engine is based off of the new Speed R21 Euro II which is intended for 1:8 on-road cars.  The Euro Spec engine is known for its power and ease of tuning and the Euro Spec II has improved this.  The new R21 Euro Spec II crankshaft has been revised with tungsten weights increasing the overall power and efficiency.  The newly designed crankshaft has created a smoother powerband from mid to high RPM. The new cooling head can withstand high temperatures allowing for increased performance.

Richardson & Kilgariff take Stoke RCMCC Autumn Series

Sam Richardson (17.5 Touring) and Andrew Kilgariff (Mini) have taken the overall wins of the Stoke RCMCC Autumn Series.  They earned the top spot after 14 weeks of racing in the Monitex Racing support series with both titles being decide at the final round.  In Touring Car, Xray driver Richardson would see off son and father pairing Adam and Steve Ball.  In the Mini Class, which is limited to Mardave Mini Assassin or Kamtec Ministock, Kilgariff would also see of the challenge off Adam and Steve with their similar Mardave Minis.

Lougheed crowned Irish 1:8 Onroad Champion

2022 would see Infinity driver Graeme Lougheed crowned Ireland’s National 1:8 Onroad Champion.  The IF18/ASM Nuclear/Eirerc driver claimed the overall title following 2 victories and a second place, all three round being hosted by the ORCA Club at Ireland’s only 1:8 Onroad track in St Annes Park on the outskirts of the capital city of Dublin.  It was a tough battle between Lougheed and Austin Elliot (Shepherd Velox v8.2/Ielasi Tuned) all year with both setting blistering times and both dominating every round.  In the end it all boiled down to the last race as each driver came into the event with one win a piece. With Elliot fresh back from the European Championship, and all to play for going into the last round, it was a tough ask for Lougheed but he was able to TQ and set the fastest lap of the year to clinch the 1:8 National title.
