Vesa Yli is 2012 Finnish champion

Vesa Yli has claimed the Finnish National 1/12th scale title after last weekend’s fourth round nationals. The current Nordic Champion dominated the first 2 rounds of the nationals by taking TQ and the win in both rounds and finished 3rd in the following round before the season ending race. This meant that Vesa kept the top spot in the championship battle from the first race thru the season, just like Janne Valtanen did in the 10.5t blinky spec class, both driving V-Dezign Carpet Ripper V. Current Euro champ Simo Ahoniemi finished 2nd followed by team mate Teemu Saarinen. Panu Vehniäinen and Miko Teponoja showed strong performance and took 4th and 5th in modified, both also driving V-Dezign cars.

JConcepts Finnisher body for TLR 8ight 2.0

JConcepts is pleased to introduce the Finnisher body for the TLR 8ight 2.0, a drop fit for the popular vehicle. Increased windshield angle provides a steady force upfront during mid-flight wind gusts on large jumps. Forward cab placement changes performance / visible bias which helps steering rotation in low traction corners. The side-pods have a strong and chiseled look, including a recessed area in the rear which allows another option for air-escape. The chassis side-guard to body fit has been tightened up which helps eliminate large empty voids that contribute to mid-flight directional changes. The area behind the cab has been greatly lowered exposing more of the engine heat-sink allowing more heat-escape. The V-stepped feature which is a highlighted styling cue of the Finnisher buggy bodies has been incorporated toward the rear and allows an additional area that can be trimmed to allow air-flow through the body.

Heremans wins Benelux Championships Rd2

The second round of the Benelux Championship was at Kampanhout Belgium last weekend where Bruno ‘Elvo’ Heremans won in convincing style with his X-6 Squared with X-Factory cars occupying the top four spots on the grid. Elvo won qualifiers 1 and 3, taking third in #2 when rain drenched the track in the last minute of his TQ run, that secured pole position for the Belgian driver.  All weekend the weather was variable, with rain off and on.  Heremans said, “My set-up worked well in the wet, the dry, and everything in between, and it was dead neutral and very fast.  A-1 was dry-ish. I was on dry tires and drove off. I did the same in A-2 and sat out the last one.” John Debacquer qualified and finished second with his X – 6 Squared, winning A-3 after some exciting racing with Nicolas Risser’s SV2.  John beat Nick in A-1 by just 0.4 seconds.

Rheinard wins opening 2WD A-Main in Dortmund

The surprise of qualifying, putting his Tamiya second on the grid of world class offroad drivers, World Touring Car Champion Marc Rheinard has won the opening leg of the 2WD Buggy A-Main at the finale of the inaugural TLR/Spektrum Euro Offroad Series in Dortmund, Germany. The German driver was handed the lead of the race on the first run through the double double after Top Qualifier & title hopeful Joern Neumann flipped his Durango off the second double luckily landing on his wheels but dropping him to third behind Team Losi Racing’s Darren Bloomfield.  A second mistake by Neumann and then an incident first with Dustin Evans and later with Lee Martin, the other two title protagonists, allowed Rheinard to eventually cross the line 2,5 seconds clear of Evans with Bloomfield taking third just in front of Neumann.
