CJ Weaver wins Canadian Off-Road Shootout

This past weekend the 6th Annual Canadian Off-Road Shootout took place in Ontario, Canada. The three-day event gathered racers from across Canada and the United States. The 259 entries consisted of 90 nitro buggies, 48 nitro trucks, 77 E-Scales, and 44 short course trucks. The nitro buggy class was definitely the most competitive and anticipated race of the weekend. CJ Weaver was able to put himself comfortably in the A-Main event qualifying 6th on the starting grid. He got off to a great start and immediately moved up a few spots into 2nd place. As the race progressed, CJ slowly started to catch the leader. With just 5 minutes to go, he was only a few seconds behind 1st place. With consistent fast laps he was able to catch and eventually pass the leader for the overall win with his Novarossi powered XB9 equipped with JConcepts Green Hybrids mounted on Inverse wheels and a JConcepts Punisher wing.

Day 1 of EOS finale ruled by Neumann

Joern Neumann made his intentions for the finale of the TLR/Spektrum Euro Offroad Series very clear on the opening day of the event after he backed up his run to the fastest time in the morning’s 2WD Buggy practice to top 4WD Buggy and Short Course this evening in Dortmund, Germany.   Topping 2WD Buggy from Team Losi Racing’s Dustin Evans, Neumann posted the three fastest consecutive laps in the 4WD class ahead of team-mate Hupo Honigl meaning the German will carry the No.1 race number on all three of his Durangos in qualifying tomorrow.

Pro-Line Camaro GS body announced

Pro-Line have announced the soon release of the Camaro GS body for Traxxas’ 1/16 scale rally chassis. The body resembles one of the hottest of today’s american muscle cars and will very likely come as clear polycarbonate shell including detailing stickers for lights, grille and more.

Perfect start to EOS finale for Neumann

Joern Neumann has given his hopes of a securing a second buggy title in the inaugural TLR/Spektrum Euro Offroad Series presented by Horizon Hobby an early boost by topping 2WD buggy practice at the season finale in Dortmund, Germany. The Team Durango star, who is in a three way battle for the overall championship crown with Team Losi Racing’s Dustin Evans and Tamiya’s Lee Martin, set the fastest three consecutive laps to head the time sheets by 3/10ths from Evans to secure the top seeding for tomorrow’s qualifying while Martin struggled to gel with the track ending up with only the 8th fastest time.

Capricorn 1/8th reverse clutches & shock pistons

Capricorn introduce the reverse clutch design for 1/8th scale on-road chassis of Motonica, Serpent, Mugen and Shepherd. The sets include all needed parts for the conversion including a treated aluminium clutch bell. The clutch is also available as 1/10 scale compatible item for the Capricorn Lab C01 and C02. Also new are the 5 and 8 hole shock pistons for the use with 2000cst to 3000cst oil.

Shepherd Velox V10 body posts

Shepherd are happy to release a new body post set for the Velox V10. Compared to the old body posts the redesigned items are much stronger and also offer the possibility to fine tune the height of the body with the help three different recesses in the mounting plates. The set comes with all needed fasteners and will also be included in the soon to be released Velox V10 “twelve”.

Avid 1/10th off-road precision springs

Avid announce the release of the precision springs for 1/10th scale buggies and trucks. First seen at the recent Cactus Classic race the springs are designed for the use with big bore shock absorbers such as the ones from TLR, Kyosho, Team Durango as well as converted Team Associated units. They are made from raw, un-coated ASTM spec spring wire which ensures consistent spring rates and prevents mis-matched spring pairs. They are easily polished for a factory look, come in a labelled snap-top tube and include pre-cut coloured shrink tube for easy identification. Three different spring sets including a buggy/truck rear, truck front and buggy front set will be available first, with individual springs to follow.

Sirio XL3 Tuned .21 engine

Sirio have released their XL3 tuned .21 engine for 1/8th buggy and truggy classes. The 3 port motor features hand tuned liner, crankcase and crankshaft, which has been lightened. A modified piston helps improve performance further while the lightened cooling head helps lower the centre of gravity. The engine comes supplied with carburetor with 7mm venturi and bushing system to avoid overheating and ceramic Swiss main bearing.
