RPM Adjustable Height Slash 4×4 body mounts

RPM’s new adjustable height body mounts for the Traxxas Slash 4×4 are designed to give you optional body height positions where stock left you none. This version of the Slash 4×4 body mount starts off lower than stock by 1/8” (or approx. 3.2mm) and they supply a pair of molded spacers to allow you the option of a stock height body position using the thin spacer under the body mount. If monster suspension travel is needed or you just like the higher stance and larger wheel well openings a taller body mount provides, you can increase the height by 1/8” using the thicker of the two spacers. In extreme cases, both spacers may be used for a full 1/4”* (6.35mm) of extra body height. Engineered with new, larger ribs into the mounts to provide extra rigidity and support for the body while keeping weight to a minimum.

Motodrom Andernach 24 hour race

Motodrom Andernach 24 hour race

The now legendary 24 hour race that takes place every year on the Motodrom Andernach track in Germany was held last weekend in typical damp conditions. Started 11 years ago, this year’s event attracted drivers from Austria, Luxembourg and Netherlands as well as a big contingent from Germany to the home of RC car family Rheinard. Uwe Rheinard, father of Marc and Toni Rheinard, started this 24h race in the year 2000 with Tamiya FWD chassis’ but now all teams are running Tamiya TT 01-chassis with the kit silver motor and last weekend all cars were powered by 4200mAh Speedpower LiFe-batteries. 24 teams took part, with each team consisting of 7 members meaning nearly 170 drivers were fighting for the victory. On Sunday afternoon at 13:45 team ‘Wilde 13’ took the win as they had done last year and previous times in the past, while in position 2 and 3, were the two Dutch teams. The winning team drove 3072 laps which is a distance of around 700km, a lot of kilometers for a plastic Tamiya TT01. In September on the same track, Uwe Rheinard will organise the first European endurance championship (EEC) with nearly same rules. 14 European nations will participate and if you are interested to participate in the EEC please contact Uwe Rheinard (info@teammotodrom.de).

RC Pro State Series Virginia Rd1

RC Pro State Series Virginia Rd1

Round 1 of the RC Pro State Series for Virginia was a blast. The event was held at RC Pro Racing in Gloucester Virginia. The track had undergone a complete overhaul the prior weekend and had yet to be raced on. Some racers camped out overnight on Friday to get an edge on the competition. The new layout is dramatically different than the previous track with 80 tons of new dirt added. The layout can best be described as an easy to drive track but difficult to go very fast, nice and technical with some fast elements. Everyone loved the new layout and the compliments flowed all day. The track owner, Roger Burris, is a stable in the Virginia RC scene. He and his wife Tammy run the RC Pro Racing hobby shop and track.

Sweep Racing USA signs Mike Haynes

Sweep Racing USA signs Mike Haynes

Ready to kick off a great outdoor season, Sweep Racing USA have announced that 2009 ROAR National champion Mike Haynes has joined their national level team. Having great success in the past in rubber tire classes he will have a very important roll on the team, helping drivers & customers with setup and rubber tire fundamentals, along with testing and development the latest product before production. Mike has already begun running for Sweep since last month and had this to say.

After having the opportunity to test out these tires i am very excited to be helping promote the brand within the US. The tires run very consistently run to run and in rubber tire racing this is key! Many tires are fast for a couple of runs but the Sweeps seem to be fast for many.

JConcepts MBX-6 Punisher & 2.2″ Flip Outs

JConcepts MBX-6 Punisher & 2.2" Flip Outs

New from JConcepts is the Punisher body for the Mugen MBX-6. The radical new Punisher body features the slight cab-forward treatment which is amongst the most aggressive in class giving the Punisher top notch performance. Blended wing / body design gives additional down-force to the side-pods and windshield which increases drivability, corner speed and jump control. The rear base of the cab area represents the latest offering for 1/8th buggy racing featuring a super low profile design for increased engine cooling, air flow and escape. Also new are these Flip Outs, giving drivers that tire in-between the Goose Bumps and Double Dees they have asked for.  A very small pin construction makes up the foundation for the Flip Outs design and gives the grip when the conditions are wet and green in the morning, when traction is sometimes hard to come-by. These tires are now available in green compound for both the 2.2″ 4wd front wheel and the 2.2″ truck wheel.

JConcepts Ford Raptor SVT SCT-R body

JConcepts has reached new ground with the Short Course version of the popular Ford Raptor SVT body for competition Short Course racing, hanging the acronym SCT-R on the new body with the R giving it racing credibility. Officially licensed by JConcepts, the Ford Raptor SVT body is inspired from the ground up as an all-out SCT race body. Beginning with the latest in 1:1 truck detail by incorporating the latest treatment in grill and headlight design, adding street appeal, the front and rear fender flares provide the clearance necessary to run an assortment of tires and wheels while maintaining that exclusive design and look. Extended cab design with recessed side windows, louvers along the front hood highlight a number of the front-end styling cues, while deep recessed trim-out locations along the hood and bed area provide ample space for air relief cut-outs which reduce the parachute / blow-over affect that is so common in Short Course racing.
