Team Orion Advantage IQ240 charger

The new Team Orion Advantage IQ240 is a compact, easy to use and mains powered charger which also automatically balances your batteries, improving performance and safety. It can be used with an input voltage of 110 to 240VAC meaning that it can be powered by mains power outlets anywhere in the world and three versions are available with different power cords (EU, UK and USA). The IQ240 charges 2S and 3S LiPo batteries with up to 700mA and thanks to the integrated balancer, it delivers precise and safe charging and its compact size makes this charger ideal for traveling. Grant Williams joins the Spektrum revolution

Having just recently joined Spektrum, top 1:10 off-road electric buggy racer Grant Williams got off to an absolute flyer with his new equipment, taking TQ honours at the BRCA 2WD and 4WD national held at Eden Park Raceway last weekend. Grant was using the Spektrum DX3R transmitter with the DSM2 micro SR3520 receivers and the new Spektrum surface S6040 high-speed digital servos in both of his Schumacher cars.

Michael Klausner wins Rd3 in Austria

Last weekend saw the 3rd leg of the Austrian 1/8th on road nationals held at the MBC-RPA track in Vienna-Aspern. Again perfect weather and a good racing atmosphere greeted the drivers at this difficult and dangerous American style track. Already during practice Mugen/Novarossi driver Mikie Klausner was setting the pace with several unofficial improvements (16.40 sec) of the official track record (16.65 sec). In qualifying the lap record was improved to a new absolute best of 16.27 by Klausner who was easily the top qualifier followed by Motonica/Picco driver Herfried Pucher and Serpent/Max driver Patrick Wendy.

Giuseppe D’angelo wins Italian 1/10th Rd2

The 2nd round of the Italian 1/10th touring car championships was run last weekend in Messina, host of the 2005 1/8th scale World Championships. In Saturday’s qualifying it was young Biagio Spataro that took the pole position in front of Giuseppe D’angelo in 2nd, with Francesco Tironi taking 3rd. In Sunday’s hour long main final it was Mugen/Reds racer D’Angelo who led most of the race on his way to the win, followed by the Mugen/Sirio of Tironi in 2nd with Xray/Max driver Giorgio De Felici taking 3rd.

Race for a Cure – Announcement

Race for a Cure is an event taking place at Goshen Fair Grounds in Goshen CT from the 17th to 20th of June, which will help raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. A 4 day event it sees practice on Thursday with both 2wd & 4wd Short Course only running on Friday, 1/8th nitro & electric buggy on Saturday and 1/5th scale buggy & truck on Sunday. All classes get 3 rounds of qualifying and mains and the event is limited to 100 entries per day. Making it a fun day for all the family the fairgrounds are also hosting a bigger event called the Goshen Stampede where there are all kinds of cool things going on with full scale trucks, farm animals, fireworks and live music. MIP X-Duty CVD drives for Slash

Designed for ‘High Voltage’ systems such as Castle Creations Monster Mamba, these MIP X-Duty CVD drives have been made from high grade carbon steel and hardened to perfection. They feature a 5/8 diameter CVD joint with 3/32 drive pin for added strength and also the MIP Spline Technology for smoother telescoping action. Fits both the Slash 2wd & Slash 4X4. MIP have also released a new steel center drive hub for the Slash 4×4 which is a direct replacement for the stock plastic hub.

Matrix tires carbon rims

Italian tire company Matrix have announced the introduction of their new line of rims for both 1/8th and 1/10th scale on road. The new rims will feature carbon fiber inside which reduces the weight by around 12% and increases the stability of the plastic even when the temperature is very hot. They have already tested these new rims at the 1/10th Pre Worlds in Houston with good results, have won the 1/10th Euro B championship and have also tested it at the 1/8th Euro B championship in Monaco, where they achieved 2nd place. Matrix have also released a new packaging system made by flow-pack, the same system as used for food. With this new packaging the costumer can stock materials for a long time without losing the quality and performance of the tires and going forward all Matrix tire lines will be sold with this new packaging.
