Dreschers wins BRCA National warm-up event

The annual BRCA National Warm Up event took place at Frankley over the weekend and saw Craig Drescher stake his intentions for the up up coming season. The weather turned out to be dry which looked pretty unlikely in the week up to the race, but dry it was. In qualifying the Associated RC8B’s of Craig Drescher and Neil Cragg were on fire, taking all the round wins between them and putting Neil Cragg on pole position. Neil & Craig were using the new ST version of the Reedy engine and Reedy 2039 pipe set which are both due to be released soon. Neil was also the only driver able to get through for the sacred 9 lap run, which on this largely unchanged track layout, only Neil and Darren Bloomfield have ever achieved.

Truman & Turner dominate PDA Winter Series

Truman & Turner dominate PDA Winter Series

Last Sunday saw the conclusion of the winter series hosted by the Proline Dirt Arena in Bicester, UK. After 5 rounds of well contested racing in both 2wd & 4wd the honours went to AE/CML team drivers Tony Truman and Rob Rasey. The 2wd class came down to a straight battle between Tony Truman (B4) and Alec Springer (CR2) as both drivers were on equal points going into the last round. Qualifying was dominated by Truman who took the TQ with Springer not too far behind securing 2nd and Keith Robertson (B4) was 3rd leading into the 3 legged main. Truman won the first two legs with some very consistent driving and in doing so taking the title. 4wd qualifying was a close affair with Simon Turner (B44) setting the pace and taking TQ. Championship leader Rob Rasey (B44) was 2nd on the grid with his nearest rival Jon Dell (DB01R) in 3rd. Simon was near faultless in the first 2 legs taking the overall win with Rasey finishing second having won the last leg and with it the championship.

Jerome Aigoin wins Loudun French National

Jerome Aigoin wins Loudun French National

Round 1 of the French 1/8th buggy Nationals took place last weekend in Loudun in the west of the country. Qualifying saw Losi/Novarossi racer Yannick Aigoin take the TQ spot ahead of his brother Jerome Aigoin in 2nd for Kyosho, with Jerome Sartel for Xray in 3rd and recently crowned Australian Champion Renaud Savoya in 4th for Mugen. With little drama for the front runners in the semis, Yannick would start from pole position but a crash early on in the race would sideline him for a number of laps as his car received attention. This left a battle out front between Savoya and Jerome Aigoin, but with the latter running longer on a tank he could gain an advantage that saw him up front when it mattered and would take the win in front of Savoya in 2nd, with Sartel taking the final podium spot in 3rd.

Ronald Volker takes 2010 LRP TCM title

Ronald Volker takes 2010 LRP TCM title

This year’s LRP touring car masters took place this weekend in Eppelheim, attracting top drivers from around the World. In qualifying it was European Indoor Champion and DHI cup winner Ronald Volker that took the TQ spot in front of Tamiya team mates, current World Champion Marc Rheinard and current European Champion Jilles Groskamp. Freddy Sudhoff and Atsushi Hara completed the top 5. In the finals, it was Marc Rheinard that won the first A-main following a roll by Volker which allowed Groskamp also to move up to second. A mistake by Jilles allowed Ronald back through and that was how it finished. In A-main leg 2 Ronald kept it clean up front and took the win, while behind Marc made a mistake letting Groskamp through to 2nd and despite some pressure by the World Champion he couldn’t get passed and the order was to remain the same. In the final deciding final, Ronald kept his cool once more and could take the win to clinch to overall title, while behind pressure from Jilles on team mate Marc resulted in a crash. Groskamp waited and let Rheinard back passed and that was how it finished with Rheinard taking the overall runner up spot with Groskamp in 3rd.
