VRC Column - Non-Stop Racing Frenzy in December

Don’t let your fingers get rusty now that the racing season is over in most countries. VRC is here to fill the gap with exciting on-line racing competitions, especially in December. 5 Weeks of continuous on-line racing excitement and adrenaline rush. The December frenzy kicks off with the 2009 Nations Cup 1:8 CanAm on the Clermont Ferrand track in France. Next is the 1:10 VRC World Championship 1:10 TC at the Tamiya Kakegawa track in Japan, followed by the VRC World Championship 1:8 CanAm at Sydney Australia. The 2009 season is finished off with the 2009 Nations Cup 1:10 TC at Cincinnati 02 in the US. All events stretch over 2 weeks and have a 1 week overlap with the next event.

Wayne Joelson is South African Champion

Wayne Joelson is South African Champion

We received word from Wayne Joelson that he is the South African Driver’s Champion for 2009. The combination of Mugen Seiki MRX4X, Novarossi Flash .21 and Matrix Tires ensured Wayne won all three National events of the year in the famous Grand Prix city of East London, the coastal city of Durban & the final race in Johannesburg. Wayne was also victorious at the recent international event, The African Cup, held near the capital city of Pretoria. The 1 hour final is the longest and most grueling race in Africa, a race Wayne also won in 2007 & 2008. To complete a great year Wayne also represented South Africa at the IFMAR World Championship held in Lostallo, Switzerland. A 6th place position in the Quarter Finals resulted in 32nd place overall.

Guinness Certifies Nic Case’s Speed Record

Nic and his extended Schumacher Mi3.5 Streamliner took their place in the Guinness book of Records with his record breaking run (260.32 km/h) at the ISC Speed Run event in Rockingham NC last fall. This official certification comes just weeks before Nic and his extended Schumacher Mi3.5 will campaign again at the ISC’s Ultimate Speed Run at the Auto Club Dragway in Fontana CA. The Schumacher speed team will also feature Jerome Head with his Mi3.5 Race, and Shawn Palmer with his Mi3.5 Race and Mi4 entries.

Nic is very precise and complete in his preparation efforts, and his energy along with an encyclopedia of publicly shared speed running information has the Schumacher team running with a high level of excited anticipation for this event. Competiton Hobbies in Tucson, Arizona considered one of the best facilities for R/C in the World, held the annual Southwest Indoor Grand Prix over the weekend of October 24-25. JConcepts driver Ryan Maifield utilizing the JConcepts orange Bar Codes in his Associated chassis’ TQ’d and won both the 2wd modified and 4wd modified classes in convincing fashion.

Serpent have introduced 2 new types of promotional vinyl decal to show your brand allegiance. Both feature the same design but one is smaller (20x12cm) and is sold in a pair, while the other is larger (40x25cm) with both perfect for pit boxes, cases and other things you bring to the track. More importantly Serpent have also announced that they will release the first details of their new Billy Easton designed 1/8th scale buggy in the next 2 weeks as well as information concerning a new brushless powered 966 and the link version of the S120, which was used to win the first round of the European Pan series in Germany.
