Scotty Gray takes ROAR Region 4 win

Scotty Gray takes ROAR Region 4 win

Last weekend the ROAR Region 4 Super Regional On-Road Championship took place at the Homestead RC Speedway in Homestead, Florida. Friday saw a lot of racers already at the track looking to find the best setup for qualifying. In Saturday’s qualifying Shepherd driver Scotty Gray put in an impressive performance in the last round of qualifying to secure the TQ position for the A-main, 4 seconds clear of 2nd placed driver Danny Horta, while Paolo Morganti took 3rd. From the start of the 45min final it was obvious that it was going to be between Scotty and Paolo, the pair dicing back and forth. At around the half way point Paolo had to retire with mechanical problems, so Scotty could relax and cruise home to the victory, 9 laps over the 2nd placed Sean Lue with Rafael Angulo taking the 3rd spot.

Capricorn RC 1/10th 200mm chassis

capricorncar-1

When we wrote our story about the two new entrants into the 1/10th scale 200mm market, if we had of waited another week we could have added a third, with the news today that Italian company Capricorn RC will begin producing a chassis for this class. We were sent the first Exclusive CAD images of their new car, but only with some brief information about it, however you can see a lot from the pictures. The car naturally will be supplied with a lot of Capricorn optionals as standard, such as their 2008 World champion clutch, super light brake disk, one piece engine mount, lightened main and middle shaft, ultra light pivot balls, ultra light rear dogbones and front CVDs, lightened front and rear hex wheel adaptors as well as 3.6mm thick front and rear shock towers. The car features some other new features such as lightweight spur gears, a wire front anti-roll bar instead of the usual wishbone lever system, new front belt tensioner system, a hexagonal rear belt tensioner and new innovative plastic materials used for the arms and hubs. We don’t have a date for its release, only that its coming soon.

Tebo does Nitro Double at CRCRC

Tebo does Nitro Double at CRCRC

We reported on his success in the electric classes at the CRCRC facility in Columbus, OH last weekend, but Jared Tebo dominated  both the 1/8 nitro buggy and truggy classes as well. In fact, his performance was so strong that Tebo won seven of the eight qualifiers to secure TQ in both classes, just missing a perfect sweep of all eight rounds by less than 1.6 seconds in one of the truggy rounds. Tebo continued his domination during the finals, pulling away to a comfortable lead and an eventual win in the 1/8 buggy class. Establishing a comfortable lead in the 1/8 truggy class wasn’t as easy, as Tebo traded the lead a few times in the first half of the event. But, after the halfway point, Tebo took the lead with his ST-RR for the final time and held it to the end.
