He came close in Round 1 but with the demise of the first round Top Qualifier, Ronald Volker, Tamiya hotshot Viktor Wilck won the second qualifier from Andy Moore. Wilck made the most of the cooler track conditions to knock over 2 seconds off the fastest time set by Volker in Round 1 but it was a close run thing. While the Swede was much happier with the handling of his TRF416 he struggled with run time as his cars power dropped off 2 laps from the end. Running a new prototype motor, which he and team-mate Jilles Groskamp have found to give a better power delivery, Wilck may revert to the current production Speed Passion unit to try give him that little bit extra time at the end.

He’s the defending champion and he has shown every intention of trying to retain his European crown by TQ’ing the first qualifier for the 2008 Championships. Ronald Volker’s Hot Bodies stopped the clocks at 17 laps in 05:08.819 to top the round by a little over 6/10th from Pre World race win Vicktor Wilck. Volker said his run was pretty trouble free although he did struggle with seeing his car on occasions due to the strong glare from the midday sun. The German said the car was perfect and he will leave the set-up the same for the second of today’s qualifiers.

Losi have announced the release of this new RE10 exhaust system, complete with forward pointing pressure nipple, this new exhaust system provides extra clearance to keep the pressure line out of harm’s way. Practice for the 2008 EFRA European Championship for Electric Touring Cars is over and it is defending Champion Ronald Volker who is officially the fastest man around the Nitro 15 track as we get ready for the first of five qualifying heats. The Hot Bodies/LRP team driver produced 17 laps in 05:06.832 in the last of the 6 practice runs the drivers have had to prepare for the event. The German was again at the controls of his newer Cyclone TC for the run switching only to a Jaad 3.5 degree rear mount and has now nominated this chassis for the big event. Although it doesn’t count for much Volker said it felt good to top the practice.

Xray’s lead driver Teemu Leino took advantage of cooler track conditions in the first of today’s controlled practice runs to up the pace here in Spain. The Finn knocked 1.5 seconds of the previous fastest five minute run, set yesterday evening by Marc Rheinard, after reverting to the set-up he used in the second practice of the event. Leino was pretty pleased with his run and the handling of his T2 008 which he plans to leave the same for the final practice. The TITC Champion said it is difficult to change set up due to the big temperature differences for each run with as much as a 20 degree increase between the coolest and hottest heats.

We have received the following statement from Dutch company Serpent MRC outlining their latest restructuring plan. An established company, in existence for over 25 years, it has had to release this statement to counter other unfounded reports of their demise that started to spring up on the internet last night. The release states that the company is still going strong and has in fact only moved all of its production to Asia, which will have an effect on how distributors will purchase their products. Their headquarters in the Netherlands will continue to operate, but will now only handle R&D, Sales and Marketing.
