Cavalieri wins ROAR Mod 2wd & Truck

Cavalieri wins ROAR Mod 2wd & Truck

Team Orion are reporting on their success at last weeks ROAR electric buggy nationals held at Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus, California. Throughout qualifying defending Champion Ryan Cavalieri proved he was the man to beat by TQ’ing all three of the modified classes. In the Modified Truck Class Cavalieri went on to take full advantage of his TQ position by checking out on the field in the first two A-Mains giving him his 1st National Title of the weekend. In the 2wd Modified Class Cavalieri won leg 1 by 6 seconds but a mistake in leg 2 meant he had it all to do in leg 3. At the tone Cavalieri started out with a fast pace pulling out a small lead on the field and making no mistakes, to take the leg win and overall title. In the 4wd Modified Class RC ended up finishing a very respectable second overall behind Ryain Maifield, having won A-main 1, then ended up finishing a very close second place to team mate Maifield in the last two A-mains.

Westwood takes BRCA Super Stock title

Westwood takes BRCA Super Stock title

Along with the modified class run at the 4th round of the BRCA touring car nationals in Halifax last weekend, the guys in the Pro Stock class was also in action. Qualifying saw Championship leader Glenn Westwood, racing the new Schumacher Mi3.5, who took the overall TQ in the variable weather conditions ahead of Dominic Carter and Byron Humphries. Conditions for the finals were also varied and with some super fast pit work on several occasions Dominic Carter got it right and chose the correct tyres to take home the first two legs of the A in fine style.  Glenn Westwood needed to secure a good last run to take the overall championship as winning here was not enough for Dom to win the title.  Glenn responded to the pressure with a win in leg three’s dry conditions to give him 2nd overall for the meeting which was enough to crown him BRCA Pro Stock Champion for 2008.

Chris Grainger takes title at BRCA Rd4

Chris Grainger takes title at BRCA Rd4

Chris Grainger retained his national touring car title in fine style with yet another win at the fast flowing Halifax circuit last weekend. Coming into round 4 at Halifax, Chris was lying second in the BRCA National touring series, but despite this was still favourite to take the title as a top three finish would be enough for the Yokomo driver. Chris started his campaign in fine style taking FTD ahead of Olly Jefferies and Ben Cosgrove, two of his main championship rivals. The first final saw Chris ease away from Olly in the early stages, Olly stayed consistent but just lacked that little extra pace to challenge Chris, Chris went on to take leg from Olly and Ben. Leg two and real hard fought race, Ben came through from second as Chris half spun early in the race unfortunately collecting Olly and allowing the chasing pack through, Chris got back up too second but Ben took the leg two win. A win for Chris in leg three was enough to take the overall win and in doing so secure another National title.

VRC – Tip of the Month

VRC Tip of the Month

VRC is a simulation of radio controlled on-road nitro racing cars, scales 1:8 and 1:10. As with every simulation, to reach absolute realism isn’t possible but we are proud to say that we have come pretty darned close with VRC! One known psychological effect of this trying to make something as close to reality as possible is that users seem more and more focussed on finding the differences. That it why a lot of sims simply give up on trying to move closer to reality, in fact some do the opposite. Big companies who are involved in robots are deliberately staying away from trying to make their robots look human and make them look like robots or cartoon figures. Even Nintendo has gone this way with Mario Kart.
