Groskamp heads qualifying in Gubbio

We received a small report from the 1/10th scale EFRA GP that is being run this weekend in Gubbio, Italy. Saturday was scheduled to have 2 rounds of controlled practice followed by four rounds of qualification, however rain interrupted the racing, and saw the track get dry only after the first round of qualification. With the final heat of today also stopped because of the rain, it was Dutch Sirio racer Jilles Groskamp that is currently on pole position, ahead of Mugen racer Giuseppe D’Angelo in 2nd and current European Champion Dario Balestri in 3rd. Tomorrow morning will see two more rounds of qualifications run followed by the mains and we hope to bring you the results as we get them.

Xray XB808 Matched Racing springs

Xray XB808 Matched Racing springs

Xray have released these high-performance racing springs for their XB808 buggy, that have been specially developed to give better balance and an additional range of choices to fine-tune your car. Developed through extensive testing and racing experience, these linear springs use the same thickness of wire for each spring, and stiffness is controlled by the number of coils. Softer springs have a lower “C” value and more coils; stiffer springs have a higher “C” value and fewer coils. Available as a pair of springs – to fit front and rear – the springs are individually measured, controlled, inspected and matched to provide identical damping characteristics. During the selection process, each spring is compressed in several fine increments and the values recorded, and then each spring is matched with another spring of identical characteristics.

Seen at this weeks ROAR 1/8th scale buggy Nationals at Thunder Alley in Beaumont, California, are these big bore shock absorbers on the Associated RC8. Currently being used by the factory team at this race, they are close to release pending some final parts getting produced. Also seen on some of the team cars, is new steering geometry, which combined with the new shocks increase corner speed and improve rough track handling. New from Reedy is a yet unnamed proprietary .21 engine in the final stages of testing and is being run by Rick Hohwart and Scott Brown at this event.

Manuel Henriet wins Belgian Nats Rd3

Manuel Henriet wins Belgian Nats Rd3

Round 3 of the Belgian Nationals took place at the tight and technical Houthalen track in dry and sunny conditions. The T1 class qualification went the way of Kyosho driver Marten Kempeneers who ended up ahead of Xray drivers Jerome Renaux, Jonathan Sanza and Steve Lambrech, while in the T2 class it was another Xray, that of Cedric Gils that took the pole position. The start of the T1 final went the way of Yerna Hugues that took the lead for the first 5 minutes, but problems dropped him down the order. This left Kempeneers in the lead which he held on to until the final 5 minutes when a lack of tires meant he was passed by Serpent driver Manuel Henriet who took the win, while Kempeneers held onto 2nd ahead of Stephane Roufosee in 3rd. The T2 class went the way of the pole man Cedric Gils who won ahead of fellow Xray drivers Renaud Gysembergh and Vazza Donato.
