RC Pro Series – Update

RC Pro Series - Update

Our friends from the RC Pro Series in the US were in touch to update us on what has been going on lately with the series –

“The 1st Pepsi Nitro Beach is over and now everyone who attended has to return to the real world! We at RC Pro International would like to thank all the racer who made the trip from the US Mainland and all the racers from Puerto Rico that opened their island to us and treated us like family. Thanks to Rafa Sabatier, Braulio and crew for all the hard work building the track and taking care of all the last minute details. Thanks to the Hau family and staff at the Mar Hau resort, also thanks to Pepsi for their support of the RC Pro Caribbean Series this year. Find more about that event here.”

“The Cabin Fever race at the Lewiston Roundup Arena is coming up February 2nd & 3rd. We currently have 150 entries for this event and we’ve been told Ryan Cavalieri will be making this event.”

Finally RC Pro look set to introduce a monthly podcast about the series and so they are looking for videos from people who attend the events to be sent to them to be included in their monthly round up. Find out more information here.

Xray Column – Off road Development

Xray Column - Off road Development

The 14th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj talks about the development of the company’s next generation 1/8th scale buggy.

Before packing my stuff for the two big US races, I had the R&D and Production shops work quickly to make all of the parts I wanted to test. This time I had decided to not make all these parts for other team drivers but purposely only for me, but rather to make only a few shock sets for some other drivers. I expected that besides the significant shock improvements that we would need to improve forward traction and steering, and also the speed of the car. All of the parts were made on time and within only a few days, so I could finish packing my stuff and leave for the US.

Serpent soft Anti-roll bar blades

Serpent soft Anti-roll bar blades

Serpent have released these thin and therefore super soft rear anti-roll bar blades for their entire range of cars. These new blades have a similar hard setting to the original versions but in the softest setting they are much softer and overall they allow a wider range of settings. While suitable for all cars in the range that use the adjustable rear anti-roll bar, the softer blades are specifically designed to offset the new wider and thus harder lower wishbone anti roll bar mounting points on the 960.

In all of the excitement surrounding ROAR announcing the legality of LiPo cells for sanctioned racing we overlooked the introduction of Brushless motors for stock racing. According to Novak, 17.5-turn brushless motors have been approved for use in the Stock class and in addition there is a name change for the 19T class. This will now be known as the Super Stock Class, and will allow 10.5 and 13.5-turn brushless motors.
