Jon Hazlewood wins UK Truggy title

 Hazlewood wins UK Truggy title

Last weekend saw the final round of the UK Truggy Pro Nationals take place at Clanfield near Portsmouth in the south of Britain. With the title still up for grabs between Xray driver Jon Hazlewood and Hobao racer Graham Alsop, the competition was fierce and non more so than in qualifying with the main contenders battling for the pole position along with Kyosho racer Elliot Boots and in the end it was a strong drive by Alsop that gave him the top qualifying position. In the finals it was a clean get away for the top 3 with the lead changing many times between them but at the end of the race it was Hazlewood that took the win from Boots in 2nd and Alsop in 3rd. This result meant that the title contenders were tied on points, and even previous results, meaning that a 15 minute dual would decide the identity of this years National Champion. Hazlewood got off the start line best and was never headed and despite Alsop putting in some really quick laps he couldnt catch the Xray driver and the title was decided in favour of Hazlewood.

Edit RC optional bearings

Edit RC have released a number of new imperial sized high quality bearings to keep your vehicles running free and efficient at all times. Available with both ceramic or standard steel balls, the ceramics versions are ABEC 5 (ISO Class 5) rated, meaning that these bearings are of the highest precision useful for land based R/C models applications, while the ceramic balls extend life and increase resistance to heat. They may have a tighter tolerances for fit than the non ceramic ABEC 3 bearings, but not too tight so as to reduce bearing rpm. Serpent Rear wing Inserts

Serpent Rear wing Inserts

Serpent has released this pair of rear wing mount inserts for use with the 1/10th scale Protoform Stratus. Suitable for both the 190mm and 200mm body shells, the lightweight clear plexiglass inserts fit neatly into the wing mount towers and because they are threaded they replace the nuts that come as standard with the body. Once mounted they provide protection from the mounting screw being pulled through the body in the event of a crash. This not only prevents retirements due to the wing coming off but also saves you money, as the wing mounts are no longer destroyed.

Mark Green wins Rd10 of UK 1/8th Nats

Mark Green wins Rd10 of UK 1/8th Nats

The 10th and penultimate round of the British 1/8th scale Nationals were held at the weekend at the fast Halifax track in the North of England. Qualifying saw Serpent driver, and round 9 winner, Mark Green claim a close TQ ahead of team mate Tim Wood only 1 second behind, with another Serpent racer Richard Hicklin in 3rd. The start of the final saw Green lead away with Wood following very close behind until a broken piston ended his chances and allowed Hicklin up into 2nd position where he stayed for the rest of the race. Jason Frost moved into a podium position which he held for 20 minutes until a blown plug dropped down the order. Several big collisions mid pack involving Andy North and James Connolly meant that Mugen racer Andy Hastings came home third to collect his best result for over a year behind Hicklin in 2nd and Mark Green in 1st. This result meant that Mark Green claimed the 2007 National title ahead of Andy North in 2nd with 3rd position still up for grabs in the 11th and final round in Brooklands.

Thanks to Andy North for the report and photo.

2007 IFMAR 1/8th scale Worlds – Preview

2007 IFMAR 1/8th scale Worlds - Preview

Argentina is the host country for the 2007 IFMAR 1/8th scale World Championships and as the elite of the RC World descend on the country’s 2nd city, Cordoba, we bring you our event preview.

This year’s event takes place on a recently completed track at the Complejo Ferial Cordoba, the same venue as used by the Argentinean round of World Rally Championships. Favourite for this years event has to be the 7-time World Champion Lamberto Collari of Italy, the Kyosho driver will be trying to further cement his legendary RC status with an 8th IFMAR World title. Lamberto was present at the warm-up race in March but despite a good qualifying he had radio problems in the final, which meant he retired after only 50 laps, a problem I’m sure that will be sorted in time for this year’s main event.
