Mark Green wins Rd9 of UK 1/8th Nats

The 9th round of the BRCA 1/8th scale National Championship was held last weekend on the super fast Tibshelf track in the center of England. This race was the last ever on this track, which has been around for over 30 years, the noise from the gas engines finally signalling the end of this famous tracks with the JCBs moving in straight after the race, we are told that the Tibshelf club will be back and are currently looking for a new, better, location. Qualifying saw Serpent driver, and round 8 winner, Mark Green claim the top qualifier spot with the only 26 lap run edging out 2nd placed Mugen driver Andrew North who was less than a lap behind with another Serpent of Tim Wood close behind in 3rd. At the start of the final Mark Green checked out leaving the rest of the field to battle for the runner up spots while Gareth Bell had an accident with Neil Diver, losing both drivers a lot of time. With Andy North in 2nd, he had a spin which allowed Tim Wood and Pete Hastings up into 2nd and 3rd respectively, Andy North was to be taken out of contention later on when he lost the clutch. At the end of the race it was Mark who was cruising to victory with Serpent team mates Tim Wood in 2nd and Richard Hicklin in 3rd.

Elliot Harper wins Schumacher BTCC

The final round of the Schumacher BTCC took place over the weekend for the final time at the Ashby track in the Midlands ,which unfortunately is set to become developed into a housing area. Modified Championship leader Elliot Harper had already wrapped up the series at the penultimate round but showed all the mod boys the way home with a victory at this round followed by fellow HB driver Stu Noble in 2nd and Schumacher’s David Hall in 3rd. Elliot took home the coveted Cecil Schumacher Trophy for the year followed up by the hard charging Colin Price and Sam Smith both with their Mi3 rides. Jonathan Dronfield dominated the 19T class taking TQ and 1st position in front of fellow Schumacher drivers Dewi Jones and Liam Brooks. Once again Jimmy Maddision had already wrapped up the 19T Championship and decided not to run at this event so left Jimmy in 1st, Jonny 2nd and Welsh Wizard Dewi 3rd after a season long battle for the Championship. In the 27t class Rob ‘Bobby’ West took victory at the race and also secured a fine Championship win with his Mi3 closely followed by Andrew Twigger and Lee Price also with Mi3’s.

Fioroni Option Power Motors

Italian after market parts maker Fioroni has announced the release of two new 3.5cc buggy engines. Sold under the Option Power brand, these new motors look to be made by Picco, feature 3 port liners, ABC construction and come included with a previously released optional buggy cooling head as standard. The 2 versions differ in that the blue headed version bolts straight into a competition buggy and would utilize a starter box while the black headed version comes complete with a pull start attachment. Jon Hazlewood wins UK RallyX Rd7

The 7th and final round of the 2007 BRCA 1/8th Off Road series was held last weekend at the fantastic Slough track. With the series already decided in favour of Neil Cragg who was away at the 1/10 worlds in Japan the interest surrounded the fight for 2nd in the championship and and the final qualifying places for next years Worlds, which officially go down to 3rd. With 4 drivers in the hunt for 2nd the competition was fierce. It was Jon Hazelwood who came out blocks fastest with TQ in round 1. Jon then proceeded to take rounds 2 and 3 to stamp his authority over the qualifying sessions. After the 3 rounds the Hobao pair of Graham Alsop and David Crompton took 2nd and 3rd respectively. The final saw a very close battle in the early stages between Jon, David and Tommy Chung, all swapping the lead until about the 5 minute mark when Jon started to make a break which he built to about 10 seconds, a gap that he maintained for the rest of the race back to David with Elliot Boots and Graham Alsop in a battle for 3rd. This was how it stayed with Jon taking the win from Dave and Elliot.

Gomez takes Rd4 of Spanish TT Nats

The 4th and final round of the Spanish 1/8th scale Gas off road Nationals was held last weekend at the tricky circuito de Orihuela. The championship title was all but wrapped up in the previous round in favour of the current European Champion Robert Batlle but the runner up spot was still up for grabs so the competition was still strong. After a wet start to the event, qualifying saw top qualifier go to Mugen racer Borja Hernandez with Antonio J. Gomez in 2nd and Robert Batlle in 3rd while after the semis it was Hernandez who would claim pole position, with Vega lining up 2nd and Antonio J. Gomez in 3rd. For the main event it was GS racer Richi Gomez however that came out on top taking the win by less than 10 seconds in front of Daniel Vega for Mugen in 2nd with Batlle in 3rd for Hobao. With Batlle as the Champion, 2nd spot in the championship went to Daniel Vega with Antonio J. Gomez claiming 3rd.

We showed you early pre release shots a while back of the new speed controller from Much More, called the Fleta Competition 2. The final release pictures have now been released and we also have the specifications of this controller, which is made by KO Propo. This controller only works with brushed motors and can handle a max continuous current of 780A, while the max instantaneous current is 3120A, all this has been packaged in a small and lightweight (18.8g) carbon fibre effect package.
