Former World Champ wins Vray wins French Cup

The French Cup for 1:8th Off Road took place over the weekend at the Pertuis track in the South of France where former World Champion Guillaume Vray showed he still has it by taking the victory. The event saw 123 drivers tackle the winding and very dusty track where temperatures reached as high as 35 degrees over the two days. Driving his RB powered Mugen, 2004/2005 World Champion Vray won the 45-minute final from Crono driver Jérôme Sartel with Renaud Savoya making it two Mugen’s on podium in third despite suffering radio problems

Mugen release optional battery holder for MRX-4X

Mugen have release this new optional battery holder for there MRX-4X. Made from carbon fiber, the holder is claimed to make the car more responsive by improving the rigidity of the 1:8 onroad chassis.

Harder closes in on Danish Offroad title

Harder wins Danish 1/8th Offroad Championship encounter

Peter Harder was the man to beat in the fifth round of the Danish 1/8th Offroad Championships which took place over the weekend in Naestved, south of Copenhagen. Perfect racing conditions saw the Team Xray driver TQ the event with his XB8 EC.

After an easy win in his Semi, Harder amost saw all his good work go by the wayside in the A Main when he made a mistake at the triple jump on the opening lap which allowed CEN driver Rune Gustavsen and Xray team-mate Claus Nielsen to take up the lead battle. Recovering his composure Harder, winner of Round 3, closed in on the pair and at 8 minutes took the lead from were he never looked back.

Making it a good day for CEN, Rune Gustavsen and Steffen Culmsee completed the podium.
The 6th and penultimate round of the championship takes place in 2 weeks time when Harder has the chance to wrap up the National title.

Olly Jefferies wins KO Grand Prix

Olly Jefferies wins KO Grand Prix

The 12th running of the KO Grand Prix took place in England over the weekend and it was Mirage team drivers who filled the modified podium with Olly Jefferies taking the win from Andy Moore and Ben Cosgrove.

Driving his Hot Bodies/Orion combination, Jefferies ruled throughout the event setting the FTD ahead of team-mate Moore. Leg 1 of the A Final saw Jefferies take the win using his final set of new tyres to good effect. Xray driver Ben Cosgrove took leg 2 victory with Leg 3 going to Moore despite intense pressure from Jefferies who knew he had done enough to take the overall victory.

Xray new Alu Shock Absorber

Xray have released new aluminum shock absorbers that have been specially developed and designed to work with both the T2 electric and NT1 nitro platforms. The unique black hardcoated aluminum shocks are loaded with racing features including interchangeable internal parts, giving you the option of installing 1 or 2 silicone O-rings and you can also choose between fully-adjustable 4-step pistons, or you can choose fixed 1-piece precision pistons.

The XRAY aluminum shock absorbers come with all the necessary parts to build one pair of shocks (2 shocks). Springs and shock oil are not included but can be purchased separately.

Serpent S400 5-cell Chassis

Serpent have introduced this new 5 cell chassis plate for the S400 to optimise the car further when raced under the latest EFRA rules that require the use of only 5 cells. Machined out of a 2.5mm sheet of high quality carbon fibre, the plate is a simple replacement for the standard 6 cell version but now only sports 5 cell slots and this allows for a less tight radio equipment configuration. The chassis has contersunk screw holes on the bottom a better weight distribution, a machined slot under the motor to allow it to sit as low as possible and all the areas that are used for mounting the cars electrics have machined grooves to provide that all important cooling.

Danish Off-Road Nationals Rd6

The 6th round of the Danish 1/10th scale electric buggy Nationals took place last weekend at the multi surfaced Tinglev track. Lars Alex won the 2WD class after a close battle with Christer Rasmussen who ended up in 2nd and Rene Jespersen who put himself into 3rd spot after a great performance in the 2nd and 3rd final. Lars Alex is the current championship leader with 159 points followed by Christer Rasmussen in 2nd with 156 points and Bo Dissing lies in 3rd with 149 points. In the 4WD class Kim Nielsen and championship leader Ulrich Rasmussen had a very good battle going from the very beginning of the race, Ulrich who put his Kyosho on pole postion won all three finals followed closely by Losi driver Kim Nielsen in 2nd and Palle Hornum in 3rd. Ulrich Rasmussen leads the championship with 159 points, 2 point ahead of Kim Nielsen in 2nd with Palle Hornum 8 points further back. In the Stock class it was again Alexander Breiner in the fast lane with his Kyosho, he took the win followed home by Jesper Rasmussen in 2nd and Dennis Hansen in 3rd. Before the final race in Odense on the 8th and 9th September it’s Alexander and Jesper both on 159 points and their result in Odense will decide who will be Stock Champion 2007.
