Werks Racing TL21B3-Pro Race Engine

Werks Racing TL21B3-Pro Race Engine

Werks Racing have introduced the newest addition to its ‘Team Line’ of engines, the TL21B3-Pro utilizes an improved case design featuring additional stiffening ribs around the sleeve area to control heat expansion, while a new long stroke design, coupled with a race proven 3-port design, provides the perfect blend of strong torque and aggressive top end. The B3-Pro features much of the same factory machining normally only found in higher priced hand modified engines which includes extensive casework improving the primary boost port as well as the transfer ports. Fuel flow is further improved on the sleeve by machined teardropping of the transfer ports as well as a series of crankshaft alterations and combustion chamber changes that include a new fluted crankshaft with revised timing.

Rd2 of BRCA Mod Nats

Making it 2 in a row, Yokomo racer Chris Grainger has won the 2nd round of the BRCA Modified Nationals that were held last weekend at the Aldershot track. In qualifying, Chris had set the TQ time followed closely by HB team mates, World Champion Andy Moore in 2nd and Olly Jefferies in 3rd, a close battle that would continue into the first leg as the top three battled for the lead, with Chris, Andy and Olly all taking turns to lead the frantic first leg. A mistake by Olly dropped him back leaving Chris to chase Andy but despite his best efforts Chris had to give best to Andy in leg one. Leg two resulted in a win for Chris and combined with his FTD gave him the overall victory, with Andy in 2nd and Olly 3rd. This result consolidates Chris’s lead in the Championship as the season heads to Halifax for round 3.

Pro Line Nitro Max Challenge

Pro Line Nitro Max Challenge

Last weekend saw the Pro Line Nitro Max Challenge take place at the Dirt race park in California and was attended by all the major teams making this a very competitive event. The event attracted over 180 entrants and so it was a busy weekend of racing and after qualifying the TQ racers were Losi racer Adam Drake in 1/10th truck, HoBao racer Jeremy Kortz in truggy and Adam Drake once again in buggy.

The buggy main saw some close racing but was an unlucky event for The Drake who came home 4th, with Team Associated driver Ryan Cavalieri taking a big win for the new RC8 ahead of Kyosho racer Cody King in 2nd with Jammin racer Chad Bradley in 3rd, the top 3 drivers all on the same lap. The truggy main saw a closer battle up front, but once again the pole sitter didn’t fair well, finishing down in 12th, while Billy Fischer took the win ahead of Philip Atondo in a close 2nd with another 3rd position for Chad Bradley. The 1/10th Truck saw a win for pole man Adam Drake who kept it together to take the win for Losi ahead of the Associated pairing of Ryan Cavalieri and Ryan Maifield who finished in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Maarten van Lierop wins Rd2 of Dutch 200mm Nationals

Rd2 of Dutch 200mm Nationals

The second round of the Dutch 1/10th 200mm Nationals was run last weekend at the ultra fast Rucphen track, host of the first 2 rounds of the Dutch 1/8th scale National championship. Qualifying saw Serpent driver Jordy Blok take the top spot, but as the rain started to fall very few drivers decided to take part in the semi finals with only 4 racers running the first semi final and only 2 starting the 2nd semi final, meaning everyone had a good chance to make it through to the main event.

The start of the main final was delayed and due to the rain stopping, the track started to dry up but only it was only round 1 podium finisher Maarten van Lierop, driving for Xray, that took the gamble on a full dry weather setup which at the start of the final didnt look like it would pay off. As the track dried even more he started to turn decent laps and could then take the lead, eventually winning by 9 laps ahead of the Serpent duo of Ruud Schuitmaker and Bas Geurds who came home in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
