1/10th European B Championships – Day 4

1/10th European B Championships - Day 4

So yesterday (Thursday) was day 4 from the 1/10th European Championships in Roeselare in Belgium and apart from yet another day of practice split into groups, it was also opening ceremony day. We have a few pictures from today and some results which seem to only show the final timed practice heat from today and so we cant get a good overview but if we are taking this final run as a proper test, it would see lady racer Sabrina Lechner for Mugen on top followed by Mirko Morgenstein racing for Serpent in 2nd with 3rd going to Kyosho racer Mark Kriesig. But if we were to look only at individual lap times from the information we can access it would put Erik Dankel from Germany on top with a 15.255 followed by Jerome Renaux (15.267), Alessio Mazzeo (15.294), Walti Beat (15.426) and Stephen Brown (15.433). Qualifying proper starts today (Friday) with 3 rounds, with the final round being run on Saturday morning and all are xpected to be run under sunny conditions.

Alessio Mazzeo & Nick Cuypers - Interview

More interviews from the EC ‘B’ in Roeselare, Belgium, and although this pairing aren’t as attractive as our last pairing, they still make for an interesting interview. Young Italian Alessio Mazzeo has been tearing up the track since he arrived and of course we are all very much aware of what Italian racers can achieve on the track. The second interviewee is Belgian racer Nick Cuypers, a previous Belgian Champion, Nick finished 2nd at this track last weekend when the first round of the Belgian 200mm Nationals took place there.

Following on from his dominant performance in round 1 of the South African National championshisp Mike Wiseman has won again in round 2, which took place last weekend in Pretoria. In 1:8th qualifying it was a tight tussle between Hein Kotze, Wayne Joelson and Mike Wiseman, with Mike eventually taking the TQ by almost two seconds in the final round and in the final Mike drove away to a clear 2 lap victory finishing ahead of Joelson in 2nd with a hard charging Faizel Salie in 3rd. EXCLUSIVE – Kyosho to choose CRF as engine supplier

EXCLUSIVE - Kyosho to choose CRF as engine supplier

We have been reporting on the ongoing saga between Kyosho and Sirio for some time now and although some people dont want to believe its true, i can tell you that its happening folks. We have heard from a very reliable source in Japan that Kyosho are very close to completing a deal with Swiss company CRF to supply engines for their entire range of cars. The consequence of this deal is that Sirio, the Italian engine company who previously supplied Kyosho is out, which seems to tie in with what we have been reporting on Kyosho team drivers leaving Sirio as their engine supplier and, as it turns out, choosing CRF. Adrien Bertin left Sirio to work for Team Orion, focussing on the development of the CRF engines, Josh Cyrul is a long time CRF user and was the first Kyosho team driver to switch away from Sirio, Ilia van Gastel has been confirmed to be running CRF engines which only leaves Takaaki Shimo to confirm his position with CRF which we expect to happen at the Shizuoka Hobby show in Japan in 2 weeks time, along with the official announcement of the partnership.
