Kimbrow & Thomas win Mugen Grand Prix
Last weekend in Las Vegas Nevada, the Silver Bowl Raceway played host to the 2007 Mugen Grand Prix. As this race was seen as a warm up for the 1/8th scale ROAR Gas Nationals that will be held there later in the year, a lot of people entered the race to get some extra track time before the event. In the 1/8th scale class it was Kevin Jelich that TQ’d ahead of Mike Swauger and Chris Verano in 2nd and 3rd, while in the 60 minute A-main Swauger and Jelich both ran into trouble allowing Kyosho racer, and Paris Memorial race winner, Scott Kimbrow to take a clear win, 3 laps ahead of Garen Hagobian in 2nd and Chris Verano 2 laps further back in 3rd.
In the 1/10th scale class it was Ron Atomic that took the TQ spot ahead of Mike Swauger with Xray racer Barry Baker in 3rd. In the race, which saw Swauger not take the start, it was Mugen racer Brian Thomas that took the win ahead of Kyosho racer Jimmy Deprez 1 lap back in 2nd while OFNA racer Jeffrey Lin took the final podium step in 3rd.
