Proline Indoor Challenge – Practice

Proline Indoor Challenge

This bank holiday weekend in the UK, sees the ProLine Indoor Challenge take place at the Harper Adams agricultural college, the same venue that hosted last years Neo Invitational race. Today saw timed practice, with Sunday quailifying and Monday the finals, and it was the US invasion that topped the times at this early stage of the event. In the buggy class it was Ryan Maifield heading the times for the Assocaited RC8 with fellow RC8 racer Richard Saxton in 2nd while young German Thunder Tiger racer Joern Neumann is lying in 3rd.

In the truggy class it was Mugen racer and Pro Line employee Scott Hughes who was topping the times with German Thunder Tiger racer Juern Newmann in 2nd while John Holmes ended the practice day in 3rd. Qualifying starts tomorrow and thats when the event starts to get serious and we hope to bring you a report at the end of the day.

More stuff from JConcepts, this time its the release of their new Imperial and Metric Wrench sets which as you can see come with colour coded handles and are supplied in a handy carry case with the JConcepts logo on the front.

JConcepts Wrench Sets are available in a 5 pc. Standard set and a 4 pc. Metric set and each set includes a JConcepts zippered carrying case for easy storage and transfer. To make locating the right size easy, each Wrench Set has a different color-coded handle on which the wrench size is clearly laser-etched. Grooves in the handle provide a firm comfortable grip, as well as prevent the wrenches from rolling off a flat surface. Available sizes include 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm, .050″, 1/16″, 5/64″, and 3/32″.

A few months ago JConcepts released their effective and really cool looking Illuzion buggy wing and at that time it was only available in white and yellow. Today they announced that this wing will now be available in black, and just to recap about the product itself, it is designed for both 1/8th buggies and truggies and features durable through-rib design and recessed side dams for extra decal protection.

JConcepts also released some Ball Cup sets which are designed to fit all 1/10th scale off-road vehicles and come in black, white and yellow. Designed with performance as well as aesthetics in mind these newly designed low-profile ball cups have been designed for extra durability and added ‘wheel to tie-rod’ clearance. Salven dominates Rd2 of German Region West series

Rd2 of German Region West series

Michael Salven has won the 2nd round of the German West series for 1/8th scale that took place last weekend at the Dormagen track, near Cologne. Driving his Mega ZX21 powered Serpent 960, Michael could easily take the top qualifying spot by half a lap ahead of 2nd placed qualifier Kyosho racer Christian Wurst, as well as setting the fastest lap of the event, and could win the main final by 9 laps ahead of young Kyosho driver Tobias Hepp in 2nd with Mugen racer Andreas Janz in 3rd a further 2 laps back. Christian Wurst was battling with Hepp for 2nd position up until he retired at the 17 minute mark with a servo failure.

V-Dezign, the 12th scale conversion makers from Finland, have announced that they will start selling their 07 Carpet Ripper in May. This car has dominated the British Nationals in the hands of Andy Griffiths and also done very well in the Finnish Nationals with car designer Vesa Yli behind the controls and last week the V-Dezign got two cars into the European 1/12th scale A-main final and went on to finish in 4th and 10th at the hands of Griffiths and Yli. The Carpet Ripper ’07 will be available first as an update kit for cars like AE L3, L4 and other US based T-bar cars with the car available as a complete kit later on.

Unity Tool Inc. Tweak board

Our site partners, Kimihiko Yano, have got the lowdown on their site about this tweak board made by American company, Unity Tool Inc. As you can see from the picture, it is suitable for 1/12th scale chassis’ but also for 1/10th and 1/8th scale too, and basically allows you to measure and set your cars track width, camber, caster, toe in, toe out as well as helping you tweak your car correctly. The whole kits comes apart to be put away back in the supplied carry bag and if you havent seen this before you can see more pictures of it in its various uses here.
