2007 DHI Cup, track layout finalised

2007 DHI Cup track layout

Winter is a great time for International indoor races with the Team Orion Speed Weekend, Team Orion Cup, US Indoor Champs, Carpet World Cup, Neo Invitational, The Snowbirds, DHI Cup and i’m sure a lot more that i’m forgetting to mention. January 12th to 14th, 2007 will see the 7th running of the DHI Cup which takes place each year in Denmark and every year this event grows in size and importance with all the major European racers attending this event, including a lot of International racers too.

The 2007 track layout was released today and by the looks of things it seems like quite a challenging circuit with the Omega corner on top the list of challenges so if you are planning on racing there, better start memorizing.

You can read more about the DHI Cup here.

Round 2 Mini Z cup in Saveuse, France

Mini Z cup in Saveuse

After the pink explosion of round 1 held in Bethune, it was a much more subdued occasion when the French Mini-Z cup went to Saveuse for round 2 of the Championship. Driving on boring grey carpet this time round Automodelisme.com caught all the action and atmosphere from that event in pictures and posted it on their site.

You can view the results here (PDF) and check out the pictures from the event here and here.

The Piranha P2 2wd buggy

Piranha P2

This is a wicked home made 2wd buggy from a guy called Aaron who posted over at the oOple forums. This buggy is made from a self made carbon/kevlar tub and features in board suspension on the front, which is mounted to the outside of the main tub giving it a strange look but very good handling. I think its a nice project and its always good to see people trying different things and thinking outside the box.

You can see more pictures of it here and here.

Xray release bunch of XB8 Optionals

Xray Mud Scraper

Xray have pulled out all the stops and come out with a bunch of new optionals for the XB8 buggy. My favourite of which is the mud scraper shown in the image above, that removes the mud that has built up in the inside of your wheel when racing in wet and muddy conditions. Other parts include clutch bells and spur gears, coloured wheels and wings as well as a new body and a few other bits and pieces.

You can check out all the new optional parts here.

Team Orion Wasp CRF 12 Josh Cyrul edition

Team Orion Wasp CRF Josh Cyrul

Team Orion are coming out with a Josh Cyrul edition engine combo that includes WASP CRF .12 engine, exhaust system and CRF clutch (for HPI/Mugen??) all packed together in what seems to be a radio bag. I dont think the engine has been modified, the fact that it all comes together is what makes it special. If you want it, it comes out in Japan in December.

Ron Maya wins the New Zealand 1/8th Buggy Nats

New Zealand 1/8th Buggy Nats

Ron Maya, driving his Xray XB8TQ buggy has won last weekends New Zealand 1/8th buggy nationals. Held in difficult conditions at the Harewood Radio Control car club, based in Christchurch, the event attracted 55 buggies and 30 truggies all set to battle for the National title. Conditions deteriorated after qualifying when the rain started to pour down during the 1 hour main final making driving very difficult.

By now the clouds had opened and rain fell over most of the track, the back straight section was sheltered by trees so didn’t receive quite as much water. Small puddles started to form leaving some cars to slide off the track. However Ron maintained his cool driving his XB8 TQ very consistently, in fact his lap times were same even near the end of the race when the track was extremely wet as he drove at the start when the track was damp!

You can read the full report and see more pictures here.
