Canas retains European title with dominant win

Sworkz’s Juan Carlos Canas has retained his EFRA 1:8 Nitro Buggy European Championship with a dominant win at the OngaroRing in Italy. Having secured the overall TQ ahead of Mugen Seiki’s Burak Kilic after topping three of the five qualifiers, the Spaniard went on to win his Semi Final to secure pole position for the 45-minute. With Burak retiring from the lead of his Semi, behind Canas on the grid it would be Burak’s brother Berak Kilic who lined up second followed Xray’s David Ronnefalk and Team Associated’s Davide Ongaro. Leading from start to finish it was a dominant display from Canas who has clearly marked himself as a favourite for the World Championship in just 6-weeks time in his home country. A late charge from 2018 Champion Bruno Coelho, who started P5, would see the Xray driver get by his team-mate Ronnefalk to finish within 6-seconds of Canas. Former World & European Champion Ronnefalk completing the podium ahead of the WIRC of Marco Baruffolo. Racing at his family owned track, current back to back World Champion Ongaro would see any chances of a first European title dashed when he ran out of fuel having just passed Ronnefalk for second with 15-minutes left on the clock.

Avid 7” High-Clearance Low Drag 1:10 Buggy Wing

Avid has a new 7″ wide wing designed for 1:10 buggies with high clearance wheel cutouts and low drag. Available in two thicknesses, lightweight and standard, it features a flat but curved front lip to speed the air up going over it with a smooth transition to the low pressure 18.5 degree rear section so there are no pockets or hard edges to disrupt the flow. An innovative feature they have incorporated in is a small raised line in the centre, allowing easy centring during mounting. Additionally, the wing includes eight support ribs on the sides to maintain structural integrity. Two gurney options are also offered to adjust the rear bite to your preference. The wings comes uncut as 2 units.

Ninja JX21-B07 Buggy Engine

New from Mugen Seiki engine brand Ninja comes the JX21-B07 Buggy Engine. Over two years since the release of its predecessor, the JX21-B07 engine includes new crankcase, carburetor, backplate, and piston cylinder. The carburetor provides great power that is easy to drive, provides consistent tuning, and is fuel efficient. With options of a silver or black head version, the Ninja B07 engine has a square bore and stroke which has smoother power characteristics and improved fuel consumption. The DLC coated crankshaft is tungsten weighted. The lightweight cooling head has a lower center of gravity and provides exceptional cooling and stable operating temperatures. Also, new for the Ninja B07 is the rear backplate that includes a steel thrust plate.

Ielasi Tuned EFRA2186FT One Piece Buggy pipe

Ielasi Tuned is now offering their EFRA2186 1:8 Offroad exhaust as a Hard Coated one piece pipe set. The EFRA2186FT uses the same pipe as before. An exclusive mold to the Italian engine tuner which was created to give an exclusive sound, excellent power delivery and lower consumption, now having the muffler and manifold all in one piece further optimises performance as well as removing the ‘annoying’ exhaust gasket. More linear in the power release and with better runtime, the one piece set is being used by team drivers at the EFRA European Championship which is currently underway at the Ongaroring in Italy.

Xray X4 Upper Clamp -1mm

New for its 1:10 Electric Touring Car platforms, Xray has released -1mm – Inner Shock Position (L+R) Aluminium Upper Clamp for the X4. The upper clamps move the inner pivot 1mm closer to centre with this position lengthing the upper arm and reducing camber gain to free up the car. Mid corner steering improves in long sweepers, and traction rolling is reduced in very high traction carpet conditions. Recommended for large open tracks or high traction carpet tracks. Heavy duty upper clamps improve durability in hard crashes and accommodate the inner shock mounting system. Made from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminium and black anodized, the upper clamps use caster inserts for quick and easy set-up changes, and feature centering pins for precise installation and improved crash reliability.

Yokomo MD1.0 LTS (Load Transfer Special) Drift Kit

In its latest Drift car development, Yokomo has released the MD1.0 LTS (Load Transfer Special). This high-end chassis replicates the movement of a real car, characterised by its weighty load transfer and chunky suspension with sinking and stretching legs. Building on the MD1.0 configuration, the LTS features a high-mounted battery that strategically adjusts the centre of gravity to produce body roll, allowing the car to navigate corners with the realism of a true vehicle. The front and rear boast specially designed, supple, multiple-wound springs exclusive to the LTS, enhancing the roll and providing a pronounced sense of weight through effective rebound utilisation. At the front, an aluminium steering block with high-mounted upper arms minimises excessive nose dive, a common issue in rolling machines. This setup offers a balanced reduction in understeer and improved controllability. Canas Top Qualifier at European Championship

Sworkz’s Juan Carlos Canas is the Top Qualifier at the EFRA 1:8 Nitro Buggy European Championship at the Ongaroring in Italy. The defending Champion, secured the overall TQ after topping 3 of the 5 qualifiers at the home track of reigning World Champion Davide Ongaro. It would be the Italian who got qualifying underway on Thursday with his Team Associated fastest from the Mugen of Burak Kilic and Bruno Coelho’s Xray. Round 2 would Canas hit the top, the Spaniard fastest from Kilic and Ongaro. Making for a interesting first day in Sicile, after his two strong opening showings Kilic then delivered a TQ run in Q3 ahead of Canas, Coelho and Ongaro. With everything still to play for, Day 2 of qualifying would see Canas get the better of his two main rivals in the first encounter taking Q4 by just 4/10th of a second from Kilic with Ongaro third. Now a two way battle for the overall TQ between Canas and Kilic, on an increasingly grippy track Canas, pushed intensely by Coelho, posted the fastest time of qualifying to seal the overall TQ – just 6/100ths of a second separating the Top 2 Q5 times. Overall Kilic would end up second followed by Ongaro with Coelho fourth ahead of team-mate David Ronnefalk with the Top 6 rounded out by Berkan Kilic.
