Lapmonitor Challenge 2019 – Report

The Lapmonitor Challenge was held at the Mauritian RLMC RC Track this past weekend. In the 1/8th Promo class it was Nickehale Chinnayya with the win from Matteo Maka on the 2 spot and Neale Chinnayya on the 3 spot.

The opening round of the 2019 JBRL Nitro Series was held at SoCal Nitro Raceway in Victorville, California this past weekend. The event attracted over 165 entries and in the competitive Expert Nitro Buggy class it was Mugen’s Adam Drake with the overall TQ after the qualifiers. In the 20-minute A-main the race for the win was on between Adam and Team Associated’s Richard Saxton with the latter taking a narrow win some 1.5 seconds in front of Adam. HB Racing’s Cole Jenson would round out the top 3 podium result.

The popular Rhein–Main-Circuit in Bischofsheim, Germany held the annual International Warm-up Race this past weekend. The event started off wet but in the end things would turn out nicely. As usual the race attracted some of Europe’s fastest 1/8th off-road racers and it was SWorkz’s Jörn Neumann who would make the sweep to win both the Nitro and Electric classes from the TQ spot. In Nitro it was Mugen’s Carsten Keller on the runner-up spot while SWorkz’s Micha Widmaier completed the top 3 podium result. Over in the E-Buggy class and behind winner Neumann, it was Micha Widmaier on the runner-up spot as Carsten Keller came in 3rd overall.

Coming from Xray is an optional medium hardness C-hub lower front arm for the XB8 buggy. The suspension arm offers a perfect balance between reliability and performance as it is rigid enough for a responsive feel, yet soft enough for extreme durability. Universal design arm can be used on both the left and right hand side of the buggy.

Round 2 of the Urban Astro Buggy Championship offroad racing series took place over this past weekend at Urban PlaySpace in Singapore. While it was a small grid this round, it was a quality field as most of the top contenders were all in action. Round 1 winner, Sean Lee, was looking to cement his lead in the championship, and things were looking good for this young phenom as he secured TQ in the first two of the four rounds of qualifying. In round 3, Esmail Apandi took a 2-seconds win to TQ the round and setup a TQ showdown in Q4. The anticipated fight however fizzled out in Lap 3 however as the gremlins hit Esmail, leaving Sean to notch up his 3rd TQ run of the day. Esmail had to settle for a P2 start in the A-Main, with Sebastian Lee, father of Sean, qualifying 3rd, and newcomer Nicolas Madar securing the last direct spot in the A-Main. Steven Ong and Andrew Tow secured the A-Main bump-spots after finishing 1-2 in the bump-up race.

Coming for O.S. Engines’ 4-shoe off-road clutch system are two new composite clutch shoe sets. Originally equipped with alloy clutch shoes, the yellow standard and black hard composite sets allow to fine-tune the clutch’s performance by mixing and matching the clutch shoes to achieve the desired aggressiveness. The composite shoes are available separately including four yellow or four black shoes.

Raceparty RC Raceway of El Paso, Texas recently hosted their Grand Opening race. In the Nitro Buggy class it was Mugen’s Wyatt Beiter with the TQ and win from HB Racing’s Jason Darling in 2nd and TLR’s Jose Sanchez in 3rd. Over in the Nitro Truggy category it was again Wyatt with the TQ and win to round out a perfect weekend, leaving behind Hector Muela in 2nd and Efran Seanez in 3rd.

Horizon Hobby have introduced the new Arrma Outcast and Kraton 4×4 4S BLX ready-to-run trucks. Adding to Arrma’s already existing 3S and 6S BLX range, the new 4S LiPo compatible kits offer a more compact size than the 6S machinery, however they allow for speeds of up to 80km/h thanks to the BLX120 speed controller and 2400kV sensorless brushless motor. Building on the popular 3S trucks the 4S variant feature an increased track width and a new centre brace for added durability. Moulded 16mm big bore shock absorbers help keeping the 17mm hex 3.8” wheels on the ground in rough track conditions while the power system allows for all sorts of stunts on the tab. The wings and bumpers follow the look of the 6S BLX models, with new wings and body mounts. The ready-to-run package comes complete with a Spektrum STX2 2.4GHz radio with SRX200 waterproof receiver and an Arrma ADS-15M metal gear servo. Not included in the package are the needs power packs, charger and AA transmitter batteries. The 4S BLX range is available as Outcast vintage stunt or Kraton modern design monster truck.
