JConcepts Winter Indoor Shootout – Report

The 8th Annual JConcepts Winter Indoor Shootout was hosted by Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, Missouri last weekend. Always a popular race and this year the WIS attracted some of the best racers in the region like super talented Mason Fuller, Tom Rinderknecht Tyler Keel, Alex Vanderbeek, Nick Gibson, Michael Twilling, Dave Alberico, and Rico Karstens. The grip is always good at Fastlane Raceway and this year’s layout for the WIS was even better. Overall, the layout was fun but not too difficult and allowed great racing in all class. TLR’s Mason Fuller and Team Associated’s Tom Rinderknecht had an epic battle in the Invitational class. Both finished the 2WD portion tied in points while Mason edged out Tom by 2 points during the 4WD portion to take the overall invitational championship. Both drivers put on a ‘next level’ show as they scored no worse than a 2nd place finish.

Xray Racing Series Poland Rd1 – Report

The first round of the 2018/19 Xray Racing Series Poland was held last weekend with about 130 drivers in attendance. For many it was the last chance to get some laps under their belt in preparation of the EOS round 2 that will be held this weekend in Warsaw. The track layout was pretty fast with nice jumps and the event attracted Poland’s super star racer, Michal Orlowski (Schumacher) along with Schumacher’s Tristam Neal. Without surprise the 2WD and 4WD Modified classes would then be dominated by Michal, who took the wins ahead of Yokomo’s Bartlomiej Zambrzycki and Xray’s Bartosz Zalewski.

JConcepts Twin Pins & Nessi 2.2” rear tyres

Two new 1/10th buggy rear tyres are coming from JConcepts in the form of the Twin Pins 2.2” and Nessi 2.2”. Starting with the Twin Pins carpet tyre, the tread features a dual spike design which is connected together to form a mini-mountain like silhouette. The Twins are rotated throughout the design to form a solid, pin rich environment so surface area is maximised. The tyre carcass itself has been refined, slammed to low-profile, high-speed standards and slimmed out to reduce weight in all possible areas. The centre section of the tyre is connected at the base by an ultra-low, winding “river walk” which strengthens pins near the base. The “river walk” can also extend the longevity of the tyre once the pins are gone, the “walk” retains some height for emergency long distance main events. The outside of a tire can make or break side-bite, too much pin and the tire can be somewhat tippy, while not enough yields a squirrely vehicle. The very outside of the Twin Pins have legs which extend out to micro pins giving the racer all-important support turning high-speed corners. The pink compound marked with two pink dots on the tyre represents a new compound for JConcepts, a medium soft material with healthy wear characteristics. The rear tyres include open cell inserts making them a complete set ready to mount, straight out of the package.

LRP ZZ.21C Davide Ongaro Edition nitro off-road engine

LRP have introduced their all-new ZZ.21C Davide Ongaro Edition 3.5cc nitro off-road engine. The power plant was developed in cooperation with Team Associated’s Davide Ongaro and it was used by the young Italian talent to win last week’s IFMAR 1:8 Nitro Off-road World Championships in Perth, Western Australia. The O.S. based engine was developed to deliver smooth power supply in the lower RPM range combined with exceptional mileage and great overall power, resulting in LRP’s unique crankshaft design and porting. The 14mm precision-balanced crankshaft is DLC-coated for wear and sports a silicone insert for optimised mixture flow. A rear ceramic ball bearing ensures a lower overall weight and also higher peak RPM. Other features include a long stroke design for best possible power and torque, a LCG engine head and specially designed carburettor needles for improved throttle response and mileage. The engine will hit stores by the time you read this.
