The popular UK based EWS reach the mid stage of the 2023/24 Championship over the weekend with Xray’s Harley Eldridge becoming the third different winner in as many races. In qualifying it was the Schumacher of Elliot Harper who took the TQ topping 3 of the four rounds. Sworkz’ Brandon Rose claimed the first major win of his career with victory in 1:8 Nitro Buggy at the Southern Indoor Championship in Alabama, and he did it in style beating Top Qualifier and 2023 Triple Champion Dakotah Phend. The RaceTime Entertainment organised event is the first major 1:8 Offroad event of the year and attracted over 500 entries to the indoor venue. Round 4 at EssexCarpetClash saw everyone return after Christmas ready for another round of the popular south based UK series. Another track was ready for a full days racing, that some found challenging to grips with, but would find their feet quickly once racing started. James Colebrook would be the leader of the pack in qualifying from Lucy Dabb and Jack Lawson. With all three juniors in the same final it was close racing. Small mistakes and misjudgements would see Jack Lawson showed incredible driving to come through and take the junior victory. Having won the inaugural ‘Clash of Champions’ 12-months ago, it was a case of deja vu for TLR’s Dakotah Phend over the weekend as he again took the top honours in the modified Buggy classes winning both 2WD and 4WD at the Hoosier RC Hobbyplex event in Indiana. Burak Kilic has announced his departure from Team Yokomo factory offroad team. The German racer had been the Japanese manufacturer leading driver in international 1:10 Offroad competition in recent times bringing them a win in the EOS in 2022 and a podium at the EFRA European Championship this year.
