GRP X-Tech 1/5th scale touring car tyres

Italian company GRP have introduced their new X-Tech range of 1/5th scale touring car tyres. Available are four new tyre lines that utilise optimised rubber compounds to better cope with specific grip conditions while the inner reinforcement belts have also been improved with new specific weave angles maximising durability. All tyres also include optimised foam inserts for best possible tyre support on the new material rims that are moulded from a new high-quality Dupont material for high temperature resistance and optimised flex at lower temperatures. The tyre range features the XM Competition tyres including both semi slick and slick treads in ultra soft, extra soft, soft and medium compound, a high-end tyre best used in low, medium or high-grip conditions. Also new is the XP Endurance semi slick tyre in soft and medium compound that offers increased durability in medium and high-bite conditions. Also new is the XS Sport tyre in extra soft, soft and medium compound that is a great general usage tyre for dirty or older low-grip tracks. Last but not least comes the XR Rain tyre in extra soft compound for the use on wet or humid asphalt tracks. All tyres are available with white or black rims from now on.

Jonatan Gandin wins at Italian ACI IC Track Champs Rd1

The opening round of the Italian ACI Nitro On-road Championship was held in Vallelunga this past weekend. In the 1/8th Expert class it was Xray driver, Jonatan Gandin with the overall TQ after the qualifiers and also the win in the 45-minute main final, some 4.5 seconds in front of Infinity’s Francesco Tironi. Emanuele Adami (Xray) came in 3rd overall, two laps behind the top 2.

Martin & Brunsden win at Nemo Raceway Race Two

The Nemo Raceway in Royal Leamington Spa, UK held their Race Two event this past weekend with about 50 drivers in attendance for the 1/8th Nitro and E-Buggy classes. Tommy Hall came out on top after the four rounds of qualifying, tie on points with Lee Martin while Lewis Jones ended the qualifiers in 3rd overall. Over in E-Buggy it was Kevin Brunsden with a clean sweep in the qualifiers as Scott Follington came in 2nd overall. The Nitro Buggy A-main then saw Agama driver Lee taking the win by 6.7 seconds in front of Lewis Jones (Team Associated) as Jamie Hall (Team Associated) came in 3rd overall, already a lap down after the 20-minute main.

Joni Skidmore wins rain-affected Brookthorpe club race

The Brookthorpe club in the UK held a club race last weekend, attracting nearly 75 entries for the single mixed 1/8th Buggy class. Joni Skidmore (Mugen) took the overall TQ from SWorkz’s Elliott Boots in 2nd. Will Skidmore (Mugen) would come in 3rd overall from Mike Lewis (Team Associated) 4th and Jerome Sartel (SWorkz) 5th. Unfortunately and minutes before the A-main, heavy rain fell down and forced the organisers to cancel the main final meaning the results were decided off qualifying.

Ethan Lefebvre TQs & wins at Thornhill Club Race

Thornhill Racing Circuit of Hutto, Texas hosted a club race this past weekend with Ethan Lefebvre sweeping the 1/8th E-Buggy class. The Xray driver took the overall TQ over five seconds in front of Tekno RC driver, Chris Allison and he also took pretty dominant wins in A1 and A2 for the overall victory from Chris Allison in 2nd. Aiden Ferrell (Team Associated) came in 3rd overall, tie on points with Chris but Aiden had to settle for 3rd after the tie-breaker.

Daniel Pariente sweeps Madrid Buggy Regionals Rd2

The second round of the Madrid Regional 1/8th Off-road Championship was held at the Circuito de Fuencarral track this past weekend in nitro and electric classes. In the nitro category, that attracted 42 entries, it was young Daniel Pariente (SWorkz) with the overall TQ from Joan Espasa in 2nd. The 45-minute A-main event then saw Daniel and Alberto Garcia (Mugen) battling for the lead in the opening stages, however some six minutes into the race Daniel was able to establish himself in the lead that he would hold onto until the chequered flag to take the victory a lap in front of Adrian Pariente (SWorkz) while Alberto Garcia came in 3rd overall, another lap down.

David Ronnefalk TQs & wins at Swedish Buggy Nats Rd2

The MS Eskil club of Eskilstuna, Sweden hosted round 2 of the Swedish 1/8th Nitro Off-road Nationals this past weekend. The event saw nearly 70 entries and it was David Ronnefalk who swept the qualifying by taking all five rounds in style. Ellis Johansson came in 2nd from Victor Gunnarson in 3rd. The 45-minute A-main event again saw David Ronnefalk out in front on a more and more challenging track and after the first round of pit stops, David had found a good rhythm and was able to pull away and take the win with a lap margin from HB Racing teammate, Hampus Berg. Elias Johansson (HB Racing) came in 3rd overall another lap down to round out the podium in front of Victor Gunnarsson who lead the best of the rest for an all-HB-Racing top 4. Agama’s Jessica Palsson ended the race in 5th overall.
