Bruno Coelho has taken the 2WD Buggy title at the inaugural MIBO International Race, the Xray star making his return to racing on carpet after more than 3-years and took the overall win ahead of up & coming talent Bartek Zalewski and Jessica Palsson. Starting from second on the grid behind Top Qualifier Zalewski, Coelho would wrap things up early by taking the opening two A-Mains. The only other driver to top the times today when he took Q2, Zalewski also has two P2 runs to his credit to split his two senior Xray team-mates. With a pair of second fastest times leaving Martin Bayer third and mathematically in with a chance of bumping himself one spot up the grid in tomorrow morning’s fifth & final qualifying. Taking place at the Seaway Mall in Welland, Ontario, from March 30th- April 2nd, the race will not only crown the Canadian National Champions over the various classes but it will also showcase the hobby of RC Racing as the track is located in the centre court of the mall giving an extra special atmosphere to the championships. Multiple champion and Canada’s best known onroad racer Kevin Hebert heads the modified entry while Stock Touring Car looks set to have the biggest grid with over 50 drivers registered closely followed by the USGT class. The 2023 Tamiya Championship Series kicked off last weekend at 180 Raceway in Baltimore, Maryland, with the first of 10 regional races attracting a record entry. The 26th year that track owner Casey Young has been involved in the TCS, which this year will culminate with the annual Final at Hobbytown USA in Omaha on September 23-24, the opening race attracted 147 entries over all of the popular Tamiya classes. Making his return to the TITC having missed the last edition of the race in 2020, after which the race itself was forced into a 2-year Covid break, Bruno Coelho is the Top Qualifier for the 19th edition of the famed Bangkok race. …Italian fastest from Tessman’s Xray and Mayako’s Jared Tebo. Winning their respective Semi Finals, Tessmann winning from Robert Batlle while Baruffolo won his 20-minute encounter from HB Racing’s Ryan Pavidis, it was the Canadian who had the fastest winning time to secure pole for the final. Over the 30-minutes, Tessmann would lead for all but a couple laps early on, and despite Baruffolo having the fastest lap, would win by a 20-seconds margin. Alexander Hagberg has won the fourth & penultimate round of the Essex Winter Series. The Swede continued Xray’s winning streak in the popular indoor British based series as he became the third different winner of the current season on a guest appearance at the Deanes Sports Centre. In qualifying it was Xray team-mate Harley Eldridge who got out of the blocks first as she topped the opening qualifier. Hagberg got up to speed by Q2 to take control, and secured pole position. Davide Ongaro has opened the 2023 1:8 Offroad season proper in Europe with a dominant performance at the Montpellier GP in France. The Italian secured the overall TQ on Saturday and kicked off Sunday’s finals action with a win of his 20-minute Semi Final over Juan Carlos Canas that secured pole for the Main event.
