…On Saturday, the track was wet, but started to dry very quickly in places. The main problem was that the complex section in front of race control was shaded by trees and would take longer to dry out. At around 4 pm, the track was fully dry and the grip started to emerge to allow at least 2 hours of productive setup work to be carried out. As usual, Mark Green seemed to have the quickest and most consistent car from the chasing pack of Branson, North, Diver, Hicklin, Wood and Hastings. Sunday was bright with no hint of rain….

Oberhausen, the heart of rc racing in Western Germany, held round two of the new NRW Challenge (NRW = German State North Rhine-Westphalia) under great conditions with blue sky and temperatures around 22 degrees Celsius on both days. Lots of spectators saw hot racing with 46 competitors and exciting fights but also partly over-motivated drivers and lots of flying cars. At the end Tobias Hepp and Sebastian Buerge did it again and – like at round one at Dueren – won the 45 minutes finals of the two nitro classes 1/8 scale and 1/10 scale (200mm). Thomas Guensel is the new German Champion 1/10 200mm nitro. The Xray driver celebrated an impressive victory in the 45 minutes finale of the German Nationals on Sunday at Tuerkheim in the German State Bavaria. With an advantage of two laps the 26 years old Guensel saw the checkered flag in an exciting finale to take the valuable German scale crown. 18 year old Simon Balk and 41 year old Michael Heinrich completed the podium on second and third.
