Martin wins A1 as both Bayer & Orlowski mess up 1st lap

Having started out 4WD not looking particularly competitive in practice, Lee Martin’s weekend is turning around with the Yokomo driver taking the A1 win at EOS Slovakia.  Starting third on the grid, the former Champion benefited from mistakes by both drivers ahead of him, Michal Orlowski with the first error followed by a Martin Bayer mistake later in the opening lap.  Initially it was Joern Nuemann who challenged Martin for the lead until a mistake and then getting caught and passed by team-mate Orlowski it was the 2WD winner who tried to put pressure on the leader but he would run out of time.  Setting the fastest lap of the race, he would finish 3/10ths behind Martin while Neumann completed the Top 3 ahead of Daniel Kobbevik and Bayer.

Bayer Top Qualifier at EOS Slovakia

Martin Bayer is the 4WD Top Qualifier at the Euro Offroad Series in Slovakia.  The Xray driver secured pole for his home race with his 3rd straight TQ run in the penultimate round of qualifying this morning at the Hudy Arena.  Leading away the field, Bayer’s chances of wrapping up an early TQ were helped on the opening lap when his main challenger Michal Orlowski put his Schumacher on its roof.  It wasn’t to be the 2WD winners morning as his run would last little over a minute, a broken top deck causing his belt to come loose and leaving him with no drive.  Bayer would have one mistake over the 5-minutes which put Lee Martin on the TQ pace but within two laps the Yokomo driver also made an error reinstating the original order. Daniel Kobbevik would complete the Top 3 for the third qualifier with Neil Cragg enjoying a good run to record the 4th fastest time.

Bayer TQs opening 4WD qualifier

Martin Bayer has TQ’d the opening round of 4WD qualifying at the EOS in Slovakia. Second fastest in practice, the Xray driver topped the first of the four qualifiers from top seed Michal Orlowski, the pair having a distinct advantage over the rest of the field at the Hudy Arena with Marc Rheinard the only driver to join them in posting 23-second fastest laps.  The third seed Rheinard would opening qualifying with a P4, team-mate Lee Martin improving his car from practice to go 2/10ths faster and complete the Top 3.

Orlowski takes first win of EOS title defence

Michal Orlowski has claimed the first win of his Euro Offroad Series 2WD title defence, the Schumacher driver claiming victory at the Hudy Arena from Martin Bayer and Lee Martin.  The half way stage of the championship Orlowski came into the weekend a point adrift of Bayer in the standings but leaves the home of Xray and enters the final two rounds of the EOS with a two points advantage.  Top Qualifier in Slovakia, Orlowski lead A3 from start to finish albeit with Bayer throwing all at it on the final lap but the Polish teenager was always in control wrapping up his 4th EOS career win in 2WD, three of which have come at the Hudy Arena.

Orlowski cruises to A2 win

Michal Orlowski made up for the first lap error that cost him the win in A1 with a perfect A2 performance that saw the Schumacher driver cruise to victory.  Pulling clear of the field from the opening lap, the reigning champion would win by a massive 9-second with the main action of the race being for 2nd, first between A1 winner Martin Bayer and Neil Cragg and then between Bayer and Lee Martin.  At the end it was Martin who held on for second just ahead of Bayer after a tangle at the penultimate corner allowing Kája Novotný to finish a close fourth.

Bayer just hangs on to win A1

Martin Bayer has won the opening A-Main at the Euro Offroad Series, the Xray driver just seeing off Top Qualifier Michal Orlowski for the win.  Starting from second on the grid, Bayer would go to the front on the opening lap after a mistake from Orlowski but the Schumacher was clearly quicker.  Catching the Czech driver, a first attempt saw the Pole get on the inside only for the two to tangle with Bayer able to hold on to the lead.  A second charge from Orlowski then set up a photo finish with Orlowski launching his car into the final corner.  With the timing screens showing him as the winner, the reigning champion had triggered the loop by cutting the corner and the result was corrected so that Bayer was rightly the winner. With the two in a class of their own, it was Kája Novotný who would complete the Top 3 after Neil Cragg suffered an unlucky retirement with half a minute remaining.

Orlowski secures overall TQ at EOS Slovakia

Michal Orlowski has secured the overall TQ at the Euro Offroad Series in Slovakia, the Schumacher driver delivering a second TQ run in the all counting fourth & final qualifier at the Hudy Arena.  With four drivers in contention to become the 2WD Top Qualifier at the 3rd round of the championship, it was Orlowski who came out on top producing the fastest time of the day and bettering Martin Bayer’s previous quickest time from Q3 by 4-seconds to claim the first TQ championship point of his 2WD title defence.  Behind him, but unable to match Orlowski’s 13 lap pace, Neil Cragg would post the second fastest time of Q4 but with Bayer having a faster TQ time, it meant the Associated driver lost out on the tie breaker and will start tomorrow’s finals 3rd on the grid. Completing the Top 3 for the final qualifier ahead of Bayer, the Xray driver’s challenge ending with a mistake on his 3rd lap, Lee Martin makes it four different manufacturers represented at the front of the grid, a result not expected at the home of Xray.
